+1 it is...

That sold for R900k, and now for a once in a life time opportunity, can be yours for a bargain price of only R400k :spit:

Not really. Silly owner came down from 1.2M, to R550k and now R400k.
I am confident he will get R300k eventually.

There was one in a similar condition for sale for R200k a month or so ago on OLX, and a more worn out one currently for sale at R175k.

R300k is pushing it.

It could sell for R150k - R200k.

R300k is pushing it IMHO.

To be totally honest, if I had a lot of money, as in a lot of money. Had a mansion where I could fit at least 6 of my ultimate cars I would want to own, I'd probably pay R200k for a mint original example.

However I don't have that kind of money.
So if I had to spend Rxxxk on a car, it would be for one I could insure for Rxxxk, to cover my risk.

Look. I am not saying its worth R300k.
There are many other nicer cars one could drive for less than half that price.
All I am saying, is that there is a huge demand for these cars, and because of many dumb people who paid silly prices for them in the past, it has driven the price to where it is currently.
Mark my words - Someone will pay > R300k for this specific car because of its originality and condition/mileage.

But the one in SIMILAR condition (one owner, 100k km etc) didn't sell for almost two months, and he dropped his price to R185k last time I saw. I think it is sold now (or taken down), but I don't think there is such a big demand. There are too many for sale for too long.
The cheap ones are gone though.

Agree with Fordkoppie on this, while the intrinsic value of these cars should not be that high but in reality the market dictates their true value.

E30's not only iS's are demanding a premium presently and have been for a while but of late prices are increasing exponentialy...fact.

Sub 200k iS's will not be prime examples and will require money be spent on them. This being said the quality of a car is in the eye of the beholder with 1 individual thinking the car is in fantastic condition while the 2nd person thinks it needs work.

Besides I dont see what the hoo....haa...is about, there are not many cars of this era that are appreciating in value as opposed to losing money in spade fulls...this car will sell for close to the current asking price.

I used to think that people were stupid to pay those prices for cars like that but then it got me thinking , Its no longer what the cars sold for , or what we think its worth , or what its depreciation value is . now determined by supply and demand ,
There isnt much of a supply for good quality original E30s around , so those who have these will demand higher prices . And the more people there are that want it the higher the prices will go .

If I had the money and a near mint one with low mileage came along , I would buy it .

These cars are no longer "Daily Drivers" So those buying them are basically buying a toy , collection piece , or living out their childhood dream. And if they have the money for it . They will pay for it . Which would only drive up the price even more. I have seen wealthy people pay more for a Vertu phone and or a watch then the cost of this car . So who knows he will probably get his asking price .

Although the Red IS in Durban was selling for less , had less mileage and was alot more original then this one . That Radio is from a benz.
