white smoke question

Hi all. I see alot of threads about white smoke from the exhausts and some suggestions being turbo seals, etc...but mine seems to be slightly different. On my e92 N54 335i, I experience the white smoke problem but not all the time. Maybe once or twice a month while town driving. Heat guage when this happens is usually between the cold and halfway mark. I've been trying to figure out what triggers it but i'm not winning. What can it be?

The only mod is catless DP and my secondary cats are still in. Car is losing oil but there is an oil leak. Can't see where its from - i need to get it on a ramp. Some people suggested it might be the valve cover leaking.

I have noticed this more specially in traffic, the temperature is usually just above the halfway mark and when you take off there is a bit of white smoke that comes out just that once. I'm not sure what the cause is but someone told me that maybe the vehicle once overheated or something like that...

To the OP trace the oil leak and have it fix. Then plan from there.

Possible oil leaks on the N54 are:
Vanos solenoids,
Valve cover gasket,
Oil housing,
PCV,
Turbo seals.

Bigger oil leaks:
Oil sump gasket.
Valve stem seals.

All the best in sorting things out.
