Wheel Bender!

So yesterday I was turning at the bottom of a hill ...from a stop street. It was basically like a river at the bottom of that road. My 118 did a 180 and climbed the curb!:bravo: I couldn't have been doing more than 20km/h!

The left rear wheel is now angled in and the traction control diagnostic light is on.

What damage am I looking at? (to my wallet and the car!)
Should I take it to BMW or some place like Supa Quick?
I am insured.

It doesn't look too bad but the car is undrivable. Fishtails to the right.

wheel alignment will set you back 12oo buks that looks like a shaft bend...

yep control arm or axle or both, call insurance, get it on a flat bed, Once repaired be sure to have alignment checked at BMW

I hate the noises the steel make when they pull it straight again that is if the axle is bend . but it looks like it

I should go back to owning a citi golf. Cost me R900 to sort out a bent control arm :bangdesk:

I had a similar event yesterday, Luckily the curb was not a step but rather a ramp type, so I just counter steered & kept the drift going until I was straight on the road again

Sorry for your Damage.. Get it sorted asap & hopefully its not too bad.

and only get it towed on a flatbed!!!! cause if its a roll back, you might need to add new bumper to the repair bill as I did

Indeed!

I put a claim through. 4 hours later, no response. I called them and redid the claim. they said they'll send a tow truck over.
Assess it on Saturday.
Report back on Monday with the quote and repairer details.
My excess is R4k!

I hope they rip my bumper out and replace it with a ///M bumper :joy: (dreams)*

Anyway, no ride for at least 1 week. Joy.

Best thing you could have done was put in an insurance claim...had a similar incident some years ago with my E36, a friend reccomended i just repair ir, cause the damage does not look that bad...good thing i didn't listen to that "friend"...R20k later it was repaired through insurance
