Wheel Bender!

Ouch!!

Heavy excess, but without knowing exactly what all is damaged, this might be a drop in the ocean, so better to let your insurance sort it out! And then if anything goes wrong after the repair you can work through them to resolve it.

Good luck with getting this sorted out and hope that they can sort it out 100%!

Thanks guys..

They haven't picked the car up yet! Looks like it will only be tomorrow. Every day they delay, is another day I'm without a ride.

The excess is steep cos its still within the 1st 6 months of my policy. Otherwise it would be R3000.

I think when I took the policy out I opted for a higher excess and lower premiums.

2005 118i - R950pm. Not too bad if you ask me. Considering that I'm 25 as well.

Outsurance quoted something like R2000 and MiWay was even more.

Numerous calls and complaints later, it finally gets picked up!
What a hassle!

Off to the assessment yard. Then to the repairer. Then to wait for the actual repairs to get done.

I'm estimating a 2 week wait, at best.

Got my quote in today....

Rear axel, rear wheel bearing and rim repair: R14 748.

If the tyre is punctured I have to fit 50% of the cost of a new tyre due to the tread being at 50%.

I hope I get it back with no diagnostic displays! The run flat and traction control indicators were on when I sent it in.

bud, just as a tip, take out the car hire option, its dirt cheap, so in the event your car needs to go in like now, you not without wheels .

Good point, and plays against Murphy's Law - meaning that everything will be 100% with your car so that you won't need the car hire...

yeah, insurance is one of those things you pay for and hope to never need.

Yeah, I think I will! Especially cos they tend to take their time with claims/repairs.

Apparently if I get tracker the premium drops quite a bit too, so it basically pays for itself.

Just over a week now and my car only arrived at the panelbeater yesterday.

I'm a bit concerned cos when I googled the panelbeater, hellopeter came up with 17 complaints and zero compliments. Things ranging from broken locks, pirate parts, dents + scratches, poor workmanship on the repairs, interior damage in the workshop and extremely poor customer service.

I'm going to email my insurance and let them know that if things come back damaged they're gonna pay!

Below is a link to the complaints in case you guys wanna check it out.
I think a few of the companies that are underwritten by Auto and General use these panel beaters. Dial Direct and a few others... If you're in the JHB area you might wanna give it a read.

My dad took my 318i to TC when he was still driving it, 2 weeks later not heard from them, he goes there & gets told that the cars not there. They had taken it to another one a few blocks away.

A very delayed post. But....

I got my car back quite quickly. Well, sooner than what they promised so that's a good thing.

Everything seems to be in order. The actual quote came to R18k!! Fitted with brand new dealer parts.

It's been about a month now, no issues, no strange sounds.

:joy:
