If the pulley can still turn then you should be able to drive the car, you will just have a hell of a time trying to turn the steering wheel.

From what moranor described it would seem that a part of the impeller or something broke off inside the pump and jammed the shaft and preventing the pulley from turning, in this case I don't thing you would be able to drive the car for very long, as the belt would probably giving quickly due to the friction, and this would very bad as the waterpump is driven from the same belt. So can and could have been very bad indeed.

100% thats why i had to stop... i would have still gone on the trip if the power steering was on a different belt... the steering was not that heavy reminded me of my 1st car where i fitted silly wide tires and could hardly park

Moranor, you would just go and do anything to get out of a race with me!! :)

if you let me know you were coming down i would have told my car it cant break

Sorry ma man, it's a sickening feeling when something goes pop/bang/snap when you're driving. At least you're ok

Best quote I got for my car's p/s pump was R2.2k but surely that can be bettered? Don't know about quality though :fencelook:

That's odd! What brand and type did you get? Did you DIY fit it too?
