it will take 2-6 weeks if i order next week... if thats fine i will place to order...

ok could not find anything wrong with the piping the pump must just be a bit noisy... at R1650 i guess i should not be surprised...

i need a pump quick no i got this one... if you want a quite pump get the oem Luk pump i was told by a mechanic that you should expect to pay about 3k for a good pump the steelers want 9k so dont even bother getting a price from them...

the LUK LF-20 is the round back found on most e46 and
the LUK LF-30 is the flat back found on early face lift models

the LUK LF-20 is better because you get better feed back but you will have to change the pipes and brackets to fit it...

Moranor, are you planning on ordering the water pumps from Turners? If not, please give me some specs and approximate pricing.

My steering pump is moaning at me for a replacement soon.
Have you got your car sorted?

It Finally went - No power steering at all. ATF fluid level is good. Roundback pump from GW is R1650.

It lasted long after you suspected it to go :)

so...

at about 3 i was to leave and go to the south coast for the weekend...

on the way to pic someone up i go around a corner and next thing the steering gets very heavy and i fight with the wheel to get the car to go where it should...

coast around the next corner... then the squealing started and the rear view was full of smoke...

by this time i knew the AUX belt must be the problem...

i stop the car open the bonnet and take the belt out... it was quite hot and got stuck to my hand :yuck:

so anyways i remove the fan with random tools i borrowed from my friend... feel to see what pulley will not move...

the power steering pump has failed :argh: so i guess i need to go shopping... if anyone has bought this pump recently in kzn please tell me how much and where im guessing it should cost 1-1.5k steelers want 9k for it lol

Goldwagen Paid 2k did it in Feb/March this year, need one ATF bottle to refill.

I replaced with the so-called "round-back". Removed most of the ATF with a modified syringe prior to loosing the hoses. The shaft broke off from the internals...the common problem.
It's quite an easy DIY if the fan and belts are pulled off to make space for my big fat paws

On the roll again :joy:

My PS Pump broke some time ago, the shaft just broke off.
Had hard steering, checked it out, belts were fine fluids were fine.
When I took it all apart i realised that the shaft behind the pulley broke off, i was able to pull of the pulley.

Weird, and also no indication of failing soon

Thread revival

Looks like my power steering pump is going, noisy and hard to turn the pulley when cold. Looking at the bracket and pulley from the front it looks like a flat-back pump. Goldwagen does not stock the flat back. Got a price from EMI but I don't want to order from them until I remove the pump.

Any place in JHB stock the flat-back? :fencelook:
