Wanted: E92 V8 M3 engine

Hello
I am looking for a used engine for my m3, E92. My current engine blew up while I was driving on the high way. There was a sudden and dramatic oil splash from underneath the car. Initially I thought that the sump had ruptured, but it was intact. Still do not know what caused the oil to come out. All of this happened in less than two minutes, with speeds between 130 and 140. The brown around the sides of the car is not dirt, but oil.

Any leads on where I can get another engine would be appreciated.
Cheers
Paul

Hi, that's bad news man, I assume it's not repairable seeing as you are looking for a 2nd lump? Have you spoken to a few of the reputable non dealer BMW Mechanics yet?

Looks like a pre-fl so I doubt any motorplan left on the vehicle.

Yes I have. The car is now with Martins motorsport in Selby. There was an offer of a used engine with 33 000km on it, from a written off m3, for R120K, which is way off my budget.

This...

I'm sorry to hear about this Paul but this is exactly what I've been worried about on my car. Let me put it this way, I'd be surprised if it didn't run bearings and pushed a rod through the block. This is a known issue with S65 motors and I'm in the process of getting this resolved before the same thing happens to me.

Please let us know the outcome as I'm also stressing about this happening to me!

Was there a loud thud or bang when it went?

And the sound of bits hitting the underside of your car?

Will do. Guys at Martins are still stripping and they will give a diagnosis soon...but as things stand, it is evident that the whole motor is F up.

There was a sound underneath the carriage as if i had hit something, but before I could safely stop, the engine had seized

And then the sound of bits hitting the under carriage...as you put it.

I experienced the same thing on a brand new B20B vtec motor years ago, absolutely horrible sound of a engine grenading itself.
Im sorry for your loss.

This is terrible news.

In most cases I have read, there were no warning noises before.
The engine simply went bang!

I have also experienced this in a 20k km 4.0L V6.
My prognosis was that there was an electrical problem, because the starter motor was dragging on the tarmac by its cables after the conrod smacked it right off the engine:rollsmile:

The tailgate was also brown like this M3's rearend
