Gloss black grills ftw, any reason you opted not to gloss the inner?

Good Read:thumbs: even though you posted the update 5 times:fencelook::roflol:

Not sure why it was posted so many times. I clicked "post" once and it was hanging for a full 3 min, and then chaos!

I have full gloss on the x3. With the slats being further apart it's definitely required. On the 3 you can barely see its not gloss, these are 320d grills and with them being black already I guess you can say I was lazy.

Quick update, RE: The gearbox service @ ZF today.

As per usual Nico & Hardus from ZF made me feel right at home. We had a lengthy discussion around pretty much everything around the 6HP autobox, I felt like a kid in a candy-shop asking a billion questions about adaption values, box longevity, torque converters, clutches, why are there 5 Land Rover Discoveries at the workshop (by the way dont buy a Discovery), when should I change my diff oil etc etc.

The oil on the gearbox cover turned out to be a combination of factors. I was told the sump and some other plastic components get brittle after years and years of heating up and cooling down. This causes some sweat, and although not a majour issue, it should be tended too. In the end all old parts where replaced, including the sump and I was in and out in 2 hours.

Pics of the before, sump clearly leaking

These are the plastic pipes that where sweating

Most of my preventative maintenance has come to an end unfortunately. I might have some cosmetic updates in due time, thats all folks! :cthulhu:

With all mechanical maintenance done I wanted to take the next step :=):

Ill give it some time to fully adapt, before I make another video. The power is intoxicating & traction is a real problem :fencelook:

Hi bud

Excellent choice of vehicle. Just a small note.. you are using the incorrect grade of oil in the car. The correct grade is 5w30. Prolonged use of the incorrect grade of oil will lead to engine failure.

Regards

BMW also says the auto gearbox has lifetime oil in it, yet many people have had their gearboxes rebuilt due to clutch wear etc. as a result of infrequent oil changes. I’m afraid the owners/service manual cannot always be taken as gospel.

5W30 is better suited to European climates whereas 10W40 will be much better suited to our warm climate due to the higher viscosity of the oil.

Engine failure due to the wrong grade of oil? In this case definitely not..
