Valve Stem Seals

Hi All

So the inevitable has happened with my E90 320i.
After doing a service last Friday using Liqui Moly 5w30 oil (previous oil change was 6 months ago using Shell Helix) the car started to throw white smoke through the exhaust after a little while.

It only does it when the car is standing for a little while during traffic.

I got written quote without viewing the car from Tunetech to the amount of R15k and it stated that it could be more.

The amount seems very high and could i get it done for alot less at any other reputable mechanic.

I believe it can be replaced without removing the head.

Any places around the Gauteng area that can be recommended to do the replacement.

Sorry to hear bud, I jus don't know about doing valve stems without removing the head....

Take it to BMW for a quote! Trust me , everyone quoted me terrible prices to have this thing done , BMW was the cheapest , they didn't even have to remove the head as there really is no need, they can replace it without that using some tool they have. Cost me around 9800 (I had them do an oil service and some other thing at the same time) and now the car has a 2 year warranty and no smoking

There is no need at all to remove the head , unless that's giving problems with leaks , That tool BMW has works perfectly , I think there's someone on this forum as well with a White 90 which had his and I think his sisters cars seals replaced by BMW with good results

E90 320i / E46 318i is N42 or N46 engine , Price should be about the same . Same engine to me sort of.

Also , I told them specifically I wanted the seals done, so I don't get charged that check up fee.
