I'm on my 3rd e36 M3, had 2 coupes, 1 German spec, 1 "SA" spec, and now have a 4 door, have had other cars in between, GTI's, 350Z, but guess what I always come back to!! Each time I sold my coupes I thought I was doing the right thing but then always regretted it! It is the ultimate classic! Like Technician says, I think I'll end up buying another coupe eventually, and then have 2 in my garage! No other car I've driven makes you feel a part of it like the E36 M!!

Between the coupe and sedan, which one gives a better ride

I think the coupe definately looks nicer... but the sedan is technically better... and trust me u need that 6th gear!

in my opinion...The E36 M3 would replace the Lamborghini countach on my wall poster as a "youth"

and now my son will grow up with a 1M on his wall....and the legacy continues... :praise::praise::praise::praise::praise:

@Doomsdaya - Bit hard to tell cos I bought the sedan with aftermarket springs so the ride is obviously a bit harder than my coupes which had standard springs.

E36 ///M is a beaut and i ever regret selling mine , had the 4door 3.2l and it gave me such a huge grin everytime i drove it , handling on the car was just awesome, needless to say it caused lots of drama up here in JHB on the streets and on the tracks.

Hope the new owner is looking after her and having the joys i had.

Only reason i sold it was to upgrade to another ///M which im still shopping for

Heres one of the nicer vids of E36M vs SC Lumina.

Sold it cos I hardly drove it. Had another E46 330i auto at the time that was my daily driver and due to the family (baby in car seat, etc) I hardly used the M on the weekends too. Was working in Sandton/Roodepoort at the time and going through Buccleau daily, so I preferred my auto 330i for weekdays. Had too many arguments with the SO about the car too - she was not allowed to wear jeans (with a single stud on them), needed to be careful with handbag when getting in, could not feed the baby in the car, etc, etc. Hence, it spent most of it's time in the garage cos it was not my daily driver and not my weekend/family car too.

So I finally ended up selling it for something more practical

Daily drive to work with e36 328i from East London to Fort Jackson - about 10 km highway with curves and hills -have never been passed on some corners - have sat behind Golf GTi mk5 with previous e36 325i on rev limiter in 5th ( 3.46 diff ) -he pulled away slowly .
If e36 chassis is this good then M3 lives up to its icon status . Every wanker in a shittygolf says he dropped a M3 - shows he knows who is boss - the M3 was changing at 3000 rpm in each gear !!

Lovely cars, and not too hard to drive if you have a level head.
I just wish they did a little more to differentiate it from the other e36 3 series.
Its only 2 bumpers away from looking cosmetically really close. Flared fenders would have set it apart nicely.

But for a car that is approaching 20 years old, its great.

E36 M3....what can I say that hasn't been said? I love my old bmw's everything upto and including E46, E39, E38. New beemers imo aren't really impresive, for the simple reason that every BMW before the aforementioned models NEVER really had any competition. For example, what Marque had an answer to the E36 M3? E34 M5? Even the E46 M3. No one. That is why the E36 M3 will always be an icon. Its hardcore. Widow Maker FTW.

Hell yeah.
It was always like the were made to show everyone that can be done.
Nowadays it just seems like they are tweaking the cars up to that point where they can say "that'll do", not that I am saying they are not good, it just feels like they could have been so much better.
