To pay.. or not to pay

Hi Fanatics

I took my car to a guy called Michael Naidoo not so long ago, quoted me R30k for the engine work, I paid him R22k and said I will give him the rest upon completion of the work he was to do on it. He claimed to have bought oil filter housing, fixed oil leaks and power problems. But my car still has power problems. When reversing, I have to rev it first for it to reverse ok, but I feel I am damaging the car. Also, he removed heatsink from my engine and now there's a bit of smoke every time I rev the car. I also lose a bit of power on steep hill. He demands that I pay him the outstanding 8k so that he can finish working on the car but I am considering taking it else where.

I honestly feel like I am being taken for a ride, or maybe I might be overreacting. The car had an issue where water was mixing with oil in the engine when he took it. he had it for more than 2 months. Oil and water are no longer mixing but I am still experiencing power and oil issues when on steep hill or reversing.

What do you guys think I should do? I honestly don't wanna sell this car and I wanna have it sorted soonest.

Sounds like your gearbox is fucked due to oil and water mixing as a result of the damaged heat exchanger.

I cant tell from just reading this, but remember that it is possible that he has fixed some issues while other issues remain. If so, then I think its quite possible that he is due what he asks for.

If he was done further damage or not completed the prescribed work, then personally I don't see a need to pay.

Has the vehicle ever overheated?

Does it show any error codes when scanning the vehicle?
