Ok its beeen a while and I have been busy. I finally decided to sell my 2003 E46 325i(The same one as Coisman has). I left it at the dealer they give me R90 and selling it for 112k. Its a realy good car that does not use oil like the new ones, and serviced every 12000km. Its hard to let it go but I want a newer version. Now its time for an upgrade but what will I buy? I dont want a diesel. I have to choose 325i, 323i, 320i, 2009 - 2010 model. Aparently the 6 cylinder engines use to much oil or are it only isolated cases. the 4 cylinder cars are good but lack power(less speedfines). What would you guys recomend?

I am a huge 6-cyl Bmw fan. I would never drive the 2.0L 4 cyl. You drove the 141kw motor, one of Bmw's benchmarks!!
Look to be honest, i drove the E90 323i, its got 141 kw, but the Nm not good, bit lazy, the 325i 160kw is a very good car!, i would go for the 2006/7 Bmw 330i, awesome car! around 190-200kw (depending on the year model) its a STUNNER, after the 325i you go to 330i that's my opinion, and yes its almost the same price, expect to pay around R180 000 - R220 000 for a lekker een! if your lucky you pick them up for around R150 000 as well

Thanks for the input. Ill be on the
look out for a 2009 I want Motor plan for atleast the first year. ill look for a 325 because the 330 is a bit thirsty. But the 330 got nice power  but ill settle for 325i again. Very well balanced between power and petrol consumption.

Well I don't think the fuel consumption should put you off the 330i, as the consumption between the different I6's don't differ that much.

I believe the 330i will be more economical under normal usage - it has direct injection, which means it can run a stratified fuel ratio. (the 325i doesn't)

Ice, I almost sold mine November last year, but decided I am going to settle it, and keep it. My balloon payment is due in July, but bmw finance already said they will refinance it for me so I can settle the car.
My baby has 111k km's on the clock, and no serious problems, so after she is paid off, I will start shopping again, maybe get myself a Z4 for work and back, and when the family needs to drive with me, we can still take the 325.

Jip mine also treating me well and is well looked after. its paid off for 2years now and time to let go. I Dont want a car older than 10years and more than 200km on the clockAh and I miss that motorplan. If it wasnt for motorplan I would buy a Honda Accord 2.4:thumbs:

Like I said, mine only has 111k km's on the clock now, so she is still young, even if she is 8 years old, if you know what I mean.
The idea is, my eldest daughter is turning 14 in June, so not to far in the future she will be able to get a licence and drive a car.
Now mommy's Honda 180i ballade is ideal for this, ABS and Airbags, so really safe for my baby to drive once she is old enough, providing nothing happens to her or mommy's car in the future...
That way, my wife gets the 325, and I drive whatever i decide to buy.
Ideally i will only be in the market early next year, but I cant see the need for another 3 series, unless its an M3, or a 335i 2 door, otherwise the Z4 looks like a nice option for me.

...if I had a little more $$$ I would have LOVED to get into a Porsche Panamera... for some reason that car just gives me goosebumbs and a hard-on...

Hanopp, my 325 at the moment is standing at 11.8l/100km, thats only city driving, and trust me, I dont drive like miss daisy. :sneaky:
If I keep it pieceful, you know, "driving-like-the-85-year-old-lady-on-her-way-to-church" driving, I get 10.2-10.5l/100km. If I REALLY go crazy, and I drive the car like my mother in law was behind me, then it goes up to 12.5-12.8l/100km. The worst I got, was when the car was getting close to being serviced, it went to 14.4l/100km.
On highway, best ever was 6.2l/100km coming from White river to Pretoria, and when I went on holiday to Uvongo I got 6.8l/100km. On the midnight run, with some spirited acceleration out of the garages, and highway driving inbetween, plus my trip through my suburb to the meet, and back home, I got 7.6l/100km.

Mind you, my car has the ACS software, and that is what I think makes the difference. :dunno:
