Been a little busy, but have managed to complete the wiring for both seats and PDC and all working fine including the memory. Black dash in, got it courtesy of our resident E46 genius, Gizmo, thanks mate.

(Door cards and black centre console to follow)

I cleaned and treated all the lower interior plastics before fitting.

The M3 seats are awesome, but I think I will be getting rid of them. I was really sold on the beige seats as in the picture of the interior I posted previously. All depends on if I can get the money I spent buying them back.

Today I decided to remove the covers on the front end under the engine to clean them after having changed the coolant reservoir and power steering fluid and some fluids had dripped down there.

I was rather annoyed to find a load of oil settled there. Not just power steering fluid, but engine oil too. Cannot really see where it's come from but will run the engine up next weekend to temp and see if I can find the leak. There seems to be oil dripping from under the turbo, and there is also oil on the vacuum actuator. Perhaps I should put everything back and run it properly for a few hundred km's and then check again.

Still awaiting the PDC rear trim for the M Sport bumper to come from Germany, I was hoping to have it last week, but it's taking longer than the 5 to 10 days they said it would.

Hate to burst your bubble but your intercooler is probably stuffed aswell. Mine had the same build up on the join from plastic to metal.

It seems that, as Blert mentioned, my intercooler is leaking and needs replacing.

Anyone have any ideas where I can get a new one, other than BMW?

That oil leak you having possibly is caused by the oil separator. That doesn't trap all the oil going into the intake. Oil catch can should help.

That is looking great. It seems you and I are on the same path here....Taking an old car and making it new again

Sorry about the oil leak though.

I had the same issue as you with my intercooler on the 330d as I am sure I mentioned above.

The doos mechanic used my warranty to get another intercooler for me but he pocketed the cash and bought a cheap chinese knock off that I took straight back to him and made sure he got me an original bmw intercooler. The chinese knock off didn't mate with the charge pipes correctly, the clips wouldn't clip in which is why I took it back.
Unless you bringing in a performance intercooler I would stick to BMW for now. unfortunately your looking at roughly 4.5k I think iirc.

There must be an option on good intercoolers that will fit right in without having to go BMW. Even one a little bigger that fits would be good. Will keep searching and see what comes up.

Right, I need to find some alternatives with regards the intercooler. BMW price is R 8300 before discount. Ouch..........

The problem with the intercooler is space and boost pipe connectors. Second hand coolers won't be the answer because they all leak. One option would be Mr turbo or someone to fit a custom cooler and pipes

The leak on the intercooler is very small and I can probably repair it, but can get a new intercooler from two places, Bera and GW.

The prices are R850 and R1650 respectively. I am more inclined to trust GW, but at half the price I am really tempted by the unit from Bera. I have been informed that the unit from Bera is not from China. Anybody have any experience with either of these?

From my experience trying to repair anything on the charge line doesn't last. The boost is too high. I have no experience with any coolers from either of those places

Ok, so thanks to David at Goldwagen Delarey, I managed to get an intercooler today.

Here is a comparison to the OEM unit that ha failed:

So that is now fitted and I also replaced the seal again at the turbo to boost pipe interface. My own fault because I fitted it incorrectly the first time and it shredded. Must say upon starting the car and giving it a little rev the turbo is so much quieter than before. Hopefully that means no more boost leaks and more power..........

Something that had bugged me from when I got the car was this missing panel, which I had ordered some time ago:

That's much better now:

With the rear PDC strip having arrived, I took the chance to remove the rear bumper this evening which wasn't easy with the huge rear towbar that is fitted. Will take pics tomorrow of the wiring and PDC fitment tomorrow afternoon when I put everything back.

Seriously considering removing the towbar, but I don't have the rear crash bar now as it was removed on towbar fitment I assume. Also having a towbar saves a lot of damage for those idiots out there try to park their cars in the boot.

Goldwagons parts allot of the time are OEM. They come from the same manufacturer as where BMW get the parts from, they just don't put a billion percent markup on the stuff!

Sump Cover wasn't too bad. Was only R 120 or so. The clips and fastenings were another 50 odd, but was a waste because I bought the parts that the cover came with too.

Hopefully put the back bumper on tonight, then I can actually take her for a drive instead of just sitting in the garage.

Still need to get rid of that knocking noise when the revs drop lower than normal idle..............

Lol my offer still stands. It's a small job to swap out that pulley on a manual car

Managed to get the car out on the road tonight for a very quick trip to the store. Very weird, it now feels like the turbo is boosting later, perhaps it's just there is more power further up the rev range now without the boost leak.

Tomorrow time to code the PDC, at the moment it just beeps and beeps. Think it might be the towbar throwing it out.

They on the bumper strip. The sensors were working perfectly when I had them off the car and testing, hence why I say they must be picking up the towbar.

Don't need the towbar so will be removing it. Will need to buy a new bottom Mtech piece for the bumper though unfortunately, the one I have was cut for the towbar.
