Yeah remove that towbar. It doesn't look good lol. Those inner tail lights might be leaking inside. My one had the same issue. I carefully separated it and washed it out then used clear silicone to close it up. Please be very careful when washing. I used warm water and dish soap. It removed the chrome. So rather use cold water and car soap perhaps.

Yep, the tail lights need cleaning inside. I have something better than silicone that I have used on tail lights before called Bison plastic adhesive, which is strong and dries clear. Will get round to sorting that out once the interior is where I want it and all the mechanical issues are taken care of. The body will be getting a lot of attention in future to get her looking like new.

They on the bumper strip. The sensors were working perfectly when I had them off the car and testing, hence why I say they must be picking up the towbar.

Don't need the towbar so will be removing it. Will need to buy a new bottom Mtech piece for the bumper though unfortunately, the one I have was cut for the towbar.

Okay cool, yeah get rid of it.

Thanks Gizmo. Please pm me how much you want for it.

Deleting the towbar is going to be a little expensive too, apart from the piece Gizmo has, I need to get me some rear bumper shock absorbers too. The prices that the scrappies here want, I think I might have to wait to get them from the UK. Me mum is on her way back in a couple of months so will get her to bring them along with a few other odds and sods.

On a positive note, yesterday I removed the frame mounted on the towbar with those upright pieces on and the sensors are all perfect, so really don't need to remove the towbar but want to as it's an eye sore and not needed at all.

I must be honest, I had a tow bar on my old 525i and it annoyed me so much and to get it removed was such a mission that one day I borrowed a Angle grinder from my buddy got under the car and chopped it off and called it a day. Every place I went to gave me stories of why they couldn't remove it and I kept telling them....Guys get a flipping angle grinder and chop it off...Ahh but we might burn the bumper....I was like put duct tape on the bumper and chop it off....The end! But anyways did it myself lol.

Wasn't the best way but no scrap yards had the stiffener for me and all the stuff I needed and the dealership was exorbitant.

Your way might be an option, but I have a major issue, I have to do things OEM, otherwise it drives me up the wall. What concerns me to is how they have wired it in. I hate when they cut and tap into wiring. Time will tell I suppose what horrors are waiting to be found.

Used the car today for a nice long drive to the office earlier. When going slowly into the parking lot with the window open I heard what sounds like creaking from the right front suspension. Could be from the rear but definitely sounds like the front.

Any idea as to what it could be?

Must say economy is brilliant, with some light traffic and mainly open road, I ended up on 5.5l/100km and I wasn't too shy on accelerating from the lights.

The creaking noise is common. The sway bar bushes and shock mounts creak. Little bit of lubrication can solve that. Some call it pirate ship creak.

Had the opportunity to pop round Waseem's place and meet him today. What a top bloke. Took his time out to help me identify the idle noise / damper pulley issue.

Waseem what a pleasure meeting you earlier today, your time is very much appreciated. Will be in touch soon once I have researched the issues we spoke about earlier so we can get them sorted for you.

Winning..................

I replaced the damper pulley today with one I bought from Goldwagen Delarey and the rattle noise has gone. The pulley I removed looks perfect, no cracks, nothing, but there must be something out of place.

So chuffed I can now drive around and the car won't sound like it's falling apart at idle. Waseem was bang on the money.
