The General's E92 335i

yup, I ran aftermarket downpipes for ages. I did back to back dynos with the gutted downpipes vs aftermarket downpipes and there was no difference in power just cooked engine mounts and irritations when trying to remove O2 sensors etc.
Thanks! any idea of power increase with cats removed?

Well that was a good read, and everyone will be told that I told you I am not helping put your car back together till you get helicoils fitted! :ROFLMAO: to repair the damage done by the last mechanic to the block for the water coolant pipe! Lovely work by the last mechanic there! Always lovely surprises to be found.

But anyways this was a hell of a job, MUCH more of a mission to fit turbos to an E92 than to my Z4. damn the spaces are so tight to get to! and that hydraulic steering rack!!! 🤬

Other than General.Massacre excitement to get started on finishing the car off before getting a good 8 hours of sleep like he should have and waited for me to wake up and help so as to not make that 3rd flawless mistake 🤣 The job actually went pretty well and damn the car is so damn smooth and finally rattle free! She also now builds boost from down low which she never did before due to that awesome other job by the previous awesome mechanic of not tightening the outlet pipe clamp (Don't worry over time pre-dating this job we have found plenty other issues that we addressed since that last turbo install, it's been quite the journey).

This car is so damn clean now, once the fender gets replaced we will do a very deep clean of the engine bay and inner bonnet lid to get it looking like it rolled out the factory a day prior!

And thanks buddy always a pleasure to work with you on these things too, always a good laugh and good work done!

Howsit all.

So another update.
this all happened over a week ago.
As you all know, in my last big update on the Turbos, i had the unfortunate experience of my wheel coming off on the road, and broke my fender.
So the search was on for a good fender, first prize was always to be a 2nd hand Silver Fender from a scrap yard. after plenty calls and only other colour, or new aftermarket fenders available, I lucked out on a Saturday morning when i saw a set of Silver fenders available in JHB CBD. i immediately called the seller and said i needed the left item, and he said it was R1500 collection at Jeppestown, no ways i was driving there, so i told him ill make it worth his while and offered R2000 for him to deliver to me in Fourways, naturally he agreed.

The fender arrived and it was in great condition, apart from some scratches and what looked like glue residue on the front.

I set about stripping the Side Skirt and Fender off.
IMG-20210925-WA0037.jpeg

Once installed, i needed to make sure the fender was aligned nicely to the other panels, so I took great time and care to make sure that's the case before tightening it all up, especially the bolts behind the Side Skirt and door.

Installed and looking new again.
IMG-20210925-WA0044.jpeg

here is a Video that was taken (informal) after the install that showed the panel Gaps etc.
Fender installed

Next was a new Rubber windshield weather seal as mine was heavily perished and cracking, so yet another call to @deago.parts@abmbmw for a new Weather seal.
I cleaned off the old one and did some polishing of the paint that's always hidden, and cleaned the recess where the seal fits.
IMG-20210925-WA0051.jpeg
here is a quick (informal) video to show the new seal in place.
Weather Seal

next item to be installed is the E9x M3 Cable Cradle that attaches to my M3 Cowl setup, I've been looking for this since fitting the Cowl, and happy to say it really neatens up the Bay, i will still finalize it, as i left the sheathing on, so its a bit snug, and there is still a cable running across the motor, and also the Brake Booster line needs to be modified so i can hide it around the Back of the motor and under the Intake Manifold for that very clean look.
20210923_164937.jpg

Last item to be installed which I don't have a photo of, was the Headlight switch, for a very long time, my headlights have been stuck in the ON position due to the head light switch mechanism breaking, so a new one was sourced via BMW and after being on back Order from Germany, it was delivered and quickly installed.
I also coded my fog lights to switch on with DRL so I don't have to activate them manually. i quite like the simplicity of it.

Next will need a Rim refurb, as well as try source a Bonnet Sound Deadening sheet, which ill order from Deago a bit later on.

Next big mod will be a Full Methanol install next month more than likely. will see how things go.

Currently i am busy logging and getting my Custom tune dialed in, as for now its very mild and I'm happy with it being mild for now. as I still have stock Fuel Pump and TMAP sensor.

As an update on the Turbo Install @osiris and i did last month.
They have been running flawlessly, i check for leaks on all critical parts frequently, and have not seen any to date, and am very happy with the outcome of that point in particular.
car is driving smoothly, and has absolutely no issues, noises, leaks, errors, or anything of the kind that would constitute a possible problem.
The car in its current state is Flawless.

Thanks for reading guys,.

Nice dude, glad you managed to find a new fender and in the correct colour! everything else is looking great and the car is running awesomely!
Thanks dude. Ya I was worried about mismatch in the shade of paint. But it's honestly perfect.

Need to think on stuff for the shopping list for later on.

Happy new year to everyone. Hope this year brings so much more success and enjoyment to you all.

During the final week of 2021, I managed to visit Tiaan at The Meth Lab for my Meth install.
Took him a single day to get everything installed. All neat and tidy

Tiaans work is exceptional and he is as OCD as I am and happy to trust the guy to work his magic.
I've been through the car, and no missing screws, scratches, dents, bad work to be seen. It's flawless.

The meth has done its job keeping my Temps down, and also clearing all my Timing corrections I was experiencing. The car feels good and pulls very well. The 10lt tank really is a great addition and lasts long.

I will be adding to the meth by installing Port Meth later on perhaps in February. But fir now I'm happy and the car will remain as is for a little while.

This car is coming along nicely and the meth has made a massive difference to the power of this car, Although not tuned for meth the vacancy of timing corrections has helped in its power delivery tremendously!

I have always said, Methanol with N54 is a necessity in this country with our fuel. Either this or ethanol or both. even for a stock setup it helps tremendously as you will see from any N54 logs.

Happy New Year and nicely done.
Has the car been mapped for meth or you running it with the old setup?
Nice and neat installation.
Thanks mate.
No im just running MHD Stg2+.
Its a generic file from MHD, its not slow by any means, but a custom tune will for sure wake te car up.

Currently the map is targeting only 4.5* Timing Advance, and 18psi boost.
Im sure it will adjust slightly depending with MHD Map version is run, as there are versions 5, 7, 8 and 9. im on V9.0 currently.

Im planning a custom tune soon so will see where it gets me.

Absolutely has made the best difference.
I still need a larger intercooler like yours,as the temps do still rise when at idle or cruising till the meth kicks in.

I woul still like to reflash the 1M Base map and see how that runs on Meth as im sure it will feel really good with the additional octane compared to what i had.

I am going to go check out Meth Lab and see if they can work something out for the M3. Won't tune for it, in case the system fails etc, but just for the cooling and slight octane improvement to help with detonation.

Best decision bud. He will work out exactly how to set it up to make it optimal. He doesn't tune. He just sets up and programs the controller. So will definitely just be there to add the additional octane. See what he says.

If you need his details I can send you the number.

So any members that follow me on Instagram, will seen the next few photos,

But @osiris and I went to go see Spiderman - No Way Home at Monte Casino, and the spot where we parked had a little alcove with some Fluorescent lighting, perfect spot for some pics, so played with the camera settings and here is the resulting photos.
Very happy with the outcome:
