Good move.

If you do find one you really like and are not sure about the engine, send me a PM and I will tag along to inspect.

That is a good looking colour though.

I can't help but notice how rare it is to see an e34 on the road nowadays, sad really (Probably part uber's fault as he has some many of them :))

What kind of mileage are the e34 540i's good for if taken care of? Is it a major job (and what is is the cost) to convert from auto to manual?

Also, what engine is the 535i? Are these dont seem to see any on the fourm? What are they like compared to a 540i?

Thanks!

Well if the car has been taken care of then mileage is not really a problem as the V8s are really reliable.

For converting from auto to manual you are probably looking at around 15k, but worth every penny, also if you want to do this it will also be a good idea to become good friends with uber and lz on this forum.

That 530i is way cool, but Dakar yellow...............eish.

Bullet proof cars are not as cool as you think. I know someone with a bullet proof Mercedes 560SEL. The glass is 4cm thick. The car was loaded on a flat bed and some how the front windscreen cracked. They think the body must have twisted slightly. R200 000 for a new screen and the car is not even worth that.

The rims have re-inforced steel sheets on the inside of the tyres so you can't pull into TWT and get a new set of tyres, you need a special machine to get the tyres off the rims.

Seems like the mythbusters normal way :)

"Now showing that you have to use a special tool to get the tire of the rim was not very interesting, so lets see what it is like with 5 sticks of dynamite"

I drove a 730i e32 and what a lazy V8 that is in the E32 body. Once you get to 120km/h, it seems to have run out of breath!

I also drove an E34 530i and that pulls like a steam train in comparison!

Whats a 535i SE?

I think it has something to do with the spec levels on the pre facelift cars.

I bought the 530i. 1995 with 244000km and full books. Needs some minor body work, the old lady was parking by feeling.

Needs a good clean and some seat work. Some cables and motors are not lekker - seems to be a common problem with older e34.

Will post pictures once she looks half decent.
