BMW M's MOST POWERFUL COMPACT SEDAN

Thanks to the wonders of the interwebs, we're treated to a sneak peak of the all-new G80 M3 CS. Leaked ahead of its official debut, which will take place next week at the 24 Hours of Daytona.
Info is still quite scarce for this new addition to the G8x line up. But, using our keen sense of deduction and the leaked images provided, we can agree on a few points.

Seen here in Signal Green, BMW M has decided to blend some of the elements of the hardcore M4 CSL with its more "family-oriented" sibling.
The front end is a copy-paste of the M4 CSL's fascia with the updated grills, lower lip and twin vented hood. Also not forgetting the yellow DRLs (which seem to be making quite the comeback, I thought we were done with these in the 00's and 10's🙃).

As we move to the side, stance pretty much remains as the same as the M3 Competition. With just the addition of the ultra-lightweight wheel package lifted from the M4 CSL as well.

The least has been done to the rear of the car, as you simply wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this and any other G80 on the road - if you haven't read the badge that is. The only changes to report are... the addition of the CS letters to the badge...
BMW M has chosen not to give the M3 CS, the M4 CSL's ducktail-shaped boot. As this remains a CSL-only design (rightfully so). I did however expect an LCI1 facelift / updated set of taillights. As heading into 2023, the design itself will already be 4 years old and atleast time for its LCI.

From an interior perspective, the ultra-lightweight carbon fibre bucket seats, Alcantara trimmed steering wheel and middle rest bearing the CS badge have also been added to the cockpit. The rear seats remain as is but usure if the switch will be made to 2 bucket seats - a la M5 CS.

Rumoured to have the same power as the M4 CSL, the M3 CS will be packing 543hp. But still retains the M-XDrive system from the M3 Competition and 8 Speed Sports-Auto, which would make it blisteringly quick at the lights!
Other rumours are that BMW M will also shave the same amount of weight off this as the M4 CSL - 100kg. I really don't see this happening while still retaining the M-XDrive system and seat config of the M3, so we'll just have to wait and see.

No talk of pricing whatsoever yet but it's assumed the M3 CS won't be as expensive as the M4 CSL and should sit firmly between the G8x M Competition and the M4 CSL.

So, what are your thoughts?? Will this be a success for the G8x lineup? OR, a sales disaster like its F8x counterpart? Which was (quite frankly) the least desirable of its gen on launch, due the hefty price tag and minimal improvements...💬💬

Not sure if boredom, stupidity or laziness led to this.

Not content with a Regular M3, M3 Comp an M5 CS an M4 CSL, there is now the M3 CS? For who? For what? Those people who are so hardcore they can't deal with a peasant Competition X Drive, but too poor to buy a CSL? Those who want an M4 CSL but have a family?

Will anyone who has R2.8M to spend really buy this over a CSL? Yes there's a price difference, but why buy this which will be worth half that in a short period of time while a CSL will likely retain its value by virtue of being an actual desirable, focused limited run car?

Can't wait for them to release the version that is in between this one and the CSL (probably make it a DTM or championship edition) and also some 'touring edition' between this and the M3 Comp... so that we end up getting to a dozen 'limited editions' that sales people can claim will 'retain their value' in this generation as well

The seats are not unique to the CS and can be specced (I think even retrofitted).

I was just going to write "this thing is shit". But the above satisfies me.

Anyone been on the configurator for a new M2 yet? R1.6m with some spec and there are *FIVE* colour options at present? No BMW individual on a car that's starting to push R2m. BMW stay wilding.

This is where I stopped looking at that configurator:

I too believe this car wont hold value at all - in our market anyway. Unless its numbered like the M2 CS was, then there might be a chance.

(Un)Biased opinion here... but... if BMW S.A could rather skip the nonsense and give us the G8x Pure Edition, it will serve us waaaaaaay better than this.

I really do hope they don't come with 10 different "special" models as before. If they do come out with a GTS(more likely) or a DTM Model, it will be more track focused than the CSL. CSL will be midway between a Competition and a GTS, it's a stupid fast road car, not just a track toy. Ride is "soft" and composed compared to the DTM of old, but it is a shit ton faster than the DTM(at least in acceleration terms) it remains to be seen through the twisties which is more confidence inspiring. Only real issue on these new Ms is the lack of awareness of the speed you are doing, in all Ms prior, approaching a corner you could judge if you're too fast before a corner without having to look down at the cluster, in the new cars that lack of feel can get you into trouble quick and fast

It's hard to tell from the pics if these seats are the same seats out of the M4 CSL, but the CSL doesn't have the normal M Carbon seats, those are PROPER buckets. That hump in the seats is an absolute nightmare for chunky people, it's rumoured that the centre can be removed to fit a harness, hopefully that holds true.

Dear BMW That grill is still kak, no matter how much sugar you put on it. I'll stick with my F32 until you learn your lesson, thanks (and if that never happens, oh well. Maybe time to change brands).
