Struggling to get into gears

316i E36
The gears on this is starting to tick me off, it struggled to get into gears, feeling rather stiff ( no freerider not because of it being all excited) so I replaced the gearbox knuckle, i must admit it didnt change a thing in actual fact it seems worse now.
What can one do to resolve this? I am pretty sure it doesnt need a new gearbox, maybe linkage?...i dunno
Maybe some fundie here can help me out.

Any gears in particular? And define 'struggle'. Is it hard to get into, and it snaps into gear, or do you have to be Hulk Hogan on all the gears?

1 sometimes doesnt want to go in then I go second & back to 1 then its perfect, 2 & 3 while you drive is not that it doesnt want to get in but its very rough...

I dont have to do a hulk hogan stunt but I would say snap in 1 would be appropriate

Synchros are snuffed. :bawling: You're better off getting a replacement box, because reconning it wouldn't cost much less.

Patrick, if you need a gearbox, phone Jacques at Motorem 021 931 7114.

They have in stock, BMWfanatics price is R 2 250,00 incl VAT. I have just spoken to him.

funky stuff Jandre, thanks a million....but....
Wouldn't a M3 E36 gearbox go on the 316....
Coz I was thinking you know...that thread of...BMWfanatics needs a killarney track car.....

slam a M3 gearbox in it
M3 motor
Supercharge
M3 suspension
Make it only a shell & a motor...

yeah why not man, i might be buying pinky the motorsport so why not fool around with 316
Im keen on building something & have been on the lookout, maybe ill keep it as a work horse & replace the gearbox & get something else to build but I definitely will be building something, next year fast & glorious it has to run.
