Need some advice please. Steering wheel got a bit of play on it and ride was not too lekka. Got 4 shocks from Sean / Axis and 2 engine mountings from bemow and had them replaced, Drive still seems hard and noisy compared to my brothers e46 sedan 330i. Lots and creaking noises on the drive. Took it to Supaquick for alignment and they said I need new control arms and rack ends. Took it to another aligment place and they said the control arms are fine. Need to replace or refurb the steering rack and and replace rack ends. Will this reduce the play on the sterring wheel and reduce the noise and squeeking on the drive. And if so, who would guys recommend to have this done by. And estimate what would you guys think I would be out of pocket for?

I’m replacing mine this weekend. 01 330 vert. I can let you know how long it takes and any tricks I might learn while doing it to make it easier.

Before replacing all those pieces , Check the steering coupling ( I think thats what its called ) its the reason for most steering play on an E46 . They do wear out .
Its the part that connects the column to the rack , the rubber and joints start to give play.
