roof fin

Hi guys very silly Q
I noticed my 2011 e90 320d does not have a roof fin
allot of bmw's that drive past do. Were there some that came with
and some that didn't. Reasons I am asking is that firstly
a cannot pick up radio 702 (am) and secondly maby its a sign the car
was in an accident

You should have one and yes i think it is the radio antenna. Is there not a hole in your roof? lol

Where did you buy the car its only a 2011. Take it to the dealership. wtf

Let us know what happens. Thats pretty funny if they sold you a 3 series with no fin. Is there no hole in your roof now? Maybe the previous owner wasn't a fan of the fin and got rid of it.

Not all of them had the fin,our 2010 doesn't. It depends what radio is in the car, I think.

Talk Radio 702 shut down their AM transmitter a few years ago already, they are now only on FM

Then on the little fin, I don't think its anything to do with the radio, as the radio antenae is integral to the rear window heating element

I might be mistaken but the "FIN" antennae is either for the IN-CAR-PHONE (if fitted) or for the IN-CAR-GPS (if fitted)

I agree with what Ralf said, the fin is for Navigation and the in car phone. I think all models with "I" drive have the fin.

I've never seen a E90 without a fin. Must look strange.

It's definitely for car phone and / or NAV. I had E90's with and without the fin.

If your car has phone prep it will have the antenna on the roof atleast.

Talk Radio 702 is available on both 106 FM and 92.7 FM

If you are in the greater Tshwane area, Midrand, or northern Joburg, the 106 signal is probably better for you, while 92.7 covers the greater Joburg area.

Wherever you are, take the time to check and listen, to see whether 106 or 92.7 is best for you. If your car radio is RDS enabled it will display “Talk 702” and will automatically choose the best signal.

In parts of the country, night-time medium wave listeners may be able to hear the programmes shared with 567 CapeTalk by tuning to 567 medium wave. This coverage is limited.

yes, not all LCI models came with it, was fortunate to buy one from Designa Ridz, already in silver. Put it on using 3m tape.

Fin is the GPS antenna. I think it's also the in-car phone antenna. My pre-LCI had a fin but no car phone prep. I think they put them on to make them look the same. My 320i LCI had no fin, but did not have anything that looked like phone prep. 320d LCI does have a fin and looks like it has car phone prep.

Your car will only have the fin if the car has bluetooth and the cradle in the centre consol for the snap in adaptor
