E34 interior lights are not dim , its Mafia camouflage :roflol::roflol:
I would not attempt this in East London , just getting a normal white led is a mission , and not having samples to play with gets time consuming to find correct items .

Thanx will test, when assembling the car again, each switch, and see if the lights work, if not attempt the repair.....

If they work would hate to open a switch to try and replace with Led's only to break the switch in the process.

Progress made today, second door panel removed and cleaned. What will need to happen is that the door panels are so weak that I will need to re-inforce them with the kevlar stuff I used on my e12 boot pieces...unfortunatly, its finished so I can get on Tuesday only......so Tuesday evening both back panels should be mint again.....

Question: Both doors at the bootom show signs of some rust, its easy to fix but what about inside the door, how can I get that rust cleaned, more importantly how do i ensure it does not spread further from the inside?
Was thinking sand paper, then rust converter and then spray out with primer on the inside. Any ideas?

Clean with solvent based engine cleaner, then rust converter then spray with Tectyl

Don , yes been there......
If you ask for a led with a colour of x nm and an angle of y degrees its :fencelook:
Maybe clean off loose rust with steel wool and cleaner ,then follow Ricks advice .

question, which ones of the Tectyl ones?
http://www.valvoline.co.za/TectylProducts.asp

Any of the 506 range, have used most and they all seem the same to me.

You need to plug the drain holes with absorbant tissue till it dries when you spray inside the doors otherwise it leaves streaky brown wax down the sides of the car which you have to clean off with parrafin.

Other than that I love the stuff for rustproofing

There are electronics shops that are not like this?

I use Tectyl 506 Multi purpose mostly .
I bought e36 door panel clips at the agents for R27 or so for 10 last year and they were like R6.00 each at a auto paint spares outlet !!!

Thanx, will try and finish the boot area tomorrow....finish scraping off the silicone at the inspection opening....

Where is the amp and tuner normally mounted? can see a lot of retro fit cables at the back of the boot.

And just checked will need a spoiler, mine is definitly not OEM. You don't perhaps know of somebody who has a OEM M5 e34 spoiler?

Gizmo, me hooked, can not wait to properly drive this one.....started it today, ran it for a bit, just to keep battery and fluids alive.......that engine is just the most amazing addictive sound......the whole dinamics of the car.....will still take me a good year to finish, but will be worth every moment of effort spent, so far around 3 days to carefully strip 2 door panels, and strip boot area.
All parts taken off are cleaned, small repairs done if necessary, then put in plastic bags and tagged. Have like the left arm rest and door bits in one bag, right arm rest and door bits another bag etc etc

I see it wasnt long till you were under the spell of the E34 M5

That engine is just the most amazing piece of N/A artwork and the rest of the car so different from the other E34's

Adi, I had about the same starting point with mine as you have with yours. There was so much to do there were times I thought I would never ever get it together, but eventually it did.

Please take as many pictures as possible and bring them when you are down here as everything you are doing I had to do as well.
