more pics taken today will upload shortly.....bumper off, back clean, found some rust I am not happy about, otherwise all good.....

as I am taking it apart, the more I see how amazing this car is, pipe, from the petrol tank inlet area on the inside mounted going down next to the outer body, if you spill petrol, runs off through there......

I really need to index all my invoices in evernote. I have bought just about everything once, and its always interesting to see what things cost.

Adi do the e34 from 525i to M5 not have the same boot spoiler ? 51712231669 as per realoem ?
My 540i has BMW Heckspoiler on the bottom on the one side and Typ 2 on the other side .

The M5 is so addicting! Took it once or twice to the drags years ago as I was "borrowing" it....:fencelook:
I saw 250km/h from the M2 east Geldenhuis interchange onto N3 south past PPC Cement to just before the split for Eland interchange!! Man that car can cover tarmac!!!

Got into trouble with the law twice because of that evil vixen!!!

The brakes are awesome on these cars too

Got the brackets for the door panel clips sorted, bought a panel for R20 at teh scrapyard......
Found excellent window channels there, as well as back trim piecs...will fetch onces they have been stripped from the cars.

also the car seems, and I have not checked underneath, to have the self leveling suspension in place. Judging by the computer and response when driving it for a few km's when I got it!

I don't think you can put a price on restoring classics like these...

You most definitely can. Just ask Rick and myself.
It wont be cheap

Yeah but do you regret it? Probably not.
Besides, who tries to restore a classic performance car on tight budget?

These cars are lovingly restoured and are money pits to any finance guru , but the love that goes in is ....priceless .

the hours spent, ask Rick, you can simply not put into monetary terms.....impossible......just the time it took me to clean the boot area, and take lights of and bumper......took close to 2 days, to package and clean, ready to be fitted again, 16 hours of labour, impossible to calculate......

Ok, door bottoms are rusted.......

Have got around 6 cars that can act as donor cars.......

Repair doors currently in car? Or swap for scrap yard doors?

Car will be repsrayed either way............

If you can salvage the current doors, I would say do so.

That of course depends on how badly they are rusted.

bottom of door, water was standing, rusted there, not bad, can't see from outside etc...but inside you can see it

If the door has rust then IMHO rather replace as rust will appear again after being repaired - just a matter of time .
