What happened to these cars ?
On the 8 valve, what size injectors did you use ?

I remember seeing the White one.

Long time no updates.
Had a bit of a hick-up, dropped inlet and exhaust valve on cylinder #1.
Luckily no damage to bottom end. ( at this stage had done about 3000 km after the conversion ) Sent in the head to investigate and found that the valve cotters were worn:rage:. had it replaced head back on but now i cannot go above 0.4 boost. Still busy with a few things on the car. Done about 10000 km now and so far as reliability goes, good for now. Just need to get the boost back up. Hopefully before the end of the year she will be sorted properly..

Super impressed with your build. Hope that you get everything sorted without any major issues or gremlins lurking about.

She's sounds so good in the clips.

Nice to see some Opel magic.

My mate at work has a 1.8 16V Astra IRMSCHER, think it's a 2004, almost 400,000km on the clock now, and everything works perfectly, motor unopened. It does use a little oil now. I just love a drive in the old girl, certainly gave me an appreciation for Opel.

Also had an Opel 200is, one of my all time favorites. Just saw a TS this weekend at builders. An old lady driving it. Was so tempted to make an offer...

it indeed was the Cotters, they came out, valves came loose and broke the rockers.
Where i was lucky though, i heard something went wrong and killed the ignition immediately. Where i was lucky the one valve bent slightly and got pushed back up and stayed there, the stem seal on the other valve also kept it semi closed. Will upload some pics of it

been a while, having some issues currently, car left me stranded twice due to alternator failure. After some problem solving it looks like my ECU got water.
The car does not want to boost from the 4000 rpm mark. in due time will see if i can find a test mule ECU to see if it still happens and work my way from there.
Had a few long trips with the car she held up nicely, in total have done about 13000km since the built , after the head injury , mechanically car has no issues.

so this happened, dug a hole in the street to repair a water leak but did not cover it properly when done and did not add eff. warning. It is in my street, was doing night shift used this road on my way to work and this hole was not there then.

Had some time on my hands, gearbox on the car was struggling with second for a while now and stated searching for a replacement gearbox, had the bigger flywheel , with button clutch that had to be installed long overdue. Since the beginning i had trouble with the exhaust manifold ( cracking and leaks ) and a replacement on these 8 valve is pretty scarce, when removing the lump, found that it cracked again and luckily found one, unfortunately still need to be modified as the wastegate flange and pipe will mess up the radiator. hopefully during the week i will have the manifold back so i can finish up.

Update time, this time , going to be a bit of a wait but the time has come to send in the car for a semi resto, doing the body and spray painting myself would not have been the problem but other issues had me decided to send in the car to the professionals, as work goes by i will take a few snaps and share them here.
