Race day at Midvaal Raceway - 24 April

Guys,

Pardon me for not posting this under Non-Official events, I simply cannot find such a section, perhaps I'm a little slow.

What is more important is that a couple of guys are heading down to Midvaal Raceway on the 24th of April for some fun.

We will use our own vehicles, and the cost of getting your car on track is R500.

Ride along's are free  providing the driver is willing to take passengers. Note, as far as I know, non of the guys are professional drivers, and the cars are mostly stock. SO, consider the risk before you jump in.

There will be braai facilities, so if you guys want, bring stuff to stuff you faces with.

Helmet and trousers are required, bring a long sleeve jacket just in case.

Nino Venturi is the track owner, and will be expecting us from 7am.

Note, this is not an fanatics event, and is open to anyone.

Those who are interested, put your names here, I will provide the first bag of charcoal.

Any special requirements to get ur car on track ?

Is it a close racing event or one where cars are staggered on track to gain experience ?

No special requirements, if your car is stock and safe, all should be well.

This is a open track day, as most weekend are at Midvaal. Most guys act responsibly, but Nino will brief all, and drivers will be monitored.

Classes are split, experience is not a consideration. However, we can discuss with Nino to split the serious race cars from the likes of us.

Midvaal is not a busy place most days, so I do not foresee a issue.

I've raced once before, that, with a car I absolutely loved, and was shit scared... but confidence grew and I went a little faster every session.

The golden self rule I believe is, drive well within your limits.

Also, get to know track etiquette fast, you don't want an aggressive race driver pushing you along.

Guys, I did pop by on Sunday, and have to say the facilities are not the best, as you can expect from a struggling race track in the deep south.

I say this as I want all to be aware of what to expect.

5er is not exactly suited to track driving. Might come spectate though

You better hope the E39 Mafia does not see this lol. :cartel:

You have a 530i right, I think some track driving is exactly what it needs

O dear, no, we don't need a cloudy day. That said, the Top Gear boys had huge fun with a 330d some years ago.

I would never ever want to put my "ole-gal" thru such trauma, I doubt she has ever seen max 3000rpm

No man, clean some carbon out of the poor thing. Mine gets wrung out every now and then when conditions allow... If she's been pottering around town for a bit then there's a really satisfying cloud of smoke out the back...
