645ci anyday of the week! Has anyone actually heard how awesome the 645 sounds?! Pretty close to the C55 in my opinion!

I think the 650 sounds closer to the C55. Merc's V8 sound heavenly. If I ever get married, my bride would walk down the aisle to a choir of 63 AMG's

Get the C55!!

Ok...

Get over the insane torque curve of the C55 for a second, and feel the rest of the car.

it is uninvolved, its isolated, which is very much a good thing if you want a comfortable cruiser with a large motor, if you want to have fun, go for the BMW...

Actually take the C55 on a long drive, through the bends, stomping the crap out of it, try getting the backside out a bit....

I too fell in love with the C55, its an awesome car, and def has a place in this world, I am not knocking it in the slightest, but its not a drivers car...

Having almost bought a C55 in December, the above is 100% true. Its a brilliant car that performs and sounds brilliant but its not a fun car. But I would take it over the 6

Thanks everyone for your replys - the jury is still out on this one

To sum up - I like the way the c55 drives but I like the look and fun factor of the 645ci

Choosing a new car should be fun - this is literally giving me sleepless nights.......:argh:

Oh Yeah - the details of the deal:

2004 c55 R220,000 97,000km's
2004 645ci R280,000 102,000km's

Trading my 2004 X5 117,000km's - they have offered me R160,000

C55 anyday.

Leonard - if you think the merc is uninvolved you should drive the 6 convertible which is the one being referred to in this thread.
Coupe MIGHT be nice, but the drop top is k@k.

I've driven a C55 and yes the engine sound is very addictive... But I don't rate it as a drivers car either... very nice (by that I mean verrry fast :) ) in a straight line but the auto 'box still decides what gear it reckons you should be in... and the handling does not compare to that of a beemer. I haven't had the pleasure of driving a 645.. but it does sound nice and looks can be fixed with some alpina/schnitzer treatment... Well that's my very biased BMWFanatics opinion anyways... :=):

Ok - I have just driven the 645ci that I was looking at and ......... (drumroll) ........it's TERRIBLE !!!!! I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I am with this car - it's fitted with active steering and dynamic drive and in terms of steering feel and feed back is the worst I have experienced bar none - horrible - it feels like one of those playstation controllers. What a pity - I had my heart set on this car. I have one more to look at - is not fitted with the sports pack and thus should be free of both dynamic drive and active steering and is manual - hopefully this will drive like a BMW should. Incidentally, neither the M6 nor the M5 is fitted with either of these monstrosities

The best way to get from A to B is in a C, so I'm with the C55 on this one, it would be no choice for me, the C55 is awesome!

Ok - I bought the C55 - what a machine !!!! It is inconceivable that anybody would dislike this car - I am currently detailing and polishing my ass off - I decided to replace valve cover gaskets and I have found the parts prices to reasonable so far

I will post some pics as soon as I have finished servicing - I was cruising at 140 to 160 and I got 11l/100km - I can live with that and in any event, I have got a little Bantam to run around in and clock up mileage

The C55 has a simple engine - no variable valve timing etc - just goes back to the old principle "There's no replacement for Displacement"

Life without a BMW felt strange, so I bought a BMW F650GS (Parallel Twin) motorbike to run around on

I will always have a BMW or an Alfa in my life at some point but for now I plan to enjoy the C55
