There is a heat exchanger on the oil filter housing.

So the heat exchanger and a few gaskets (not head gasket) got replaced. Struggling to get all oil out of the cooling system but Mechie is soaking it tonight. For now it looks like there is no other damage.
Hopefully I have my car back and on the road by tomorrow.:joy: Can't wait.
The fuel bill on the 4.6is as daily driver is killing me.

normally goes milky when its HG are you sure the water was not topped up with oil?
Yep. Topped it up myself with clean oil. That is definitely durty oil from engine.

Another mechie suggest my heat exchanger are shot. Sounds like quite a comprhesive process to get it sorted. Draining, comprehensive flushing to get all oil out. And then some more flushing, replacement of parts then refill and oil service. Sounds like money to me:argh:

Which heat exchanger?

YOUR ENGINE OIL COOLER BEHIND YHE OIL FILTER HOUSING HAS RUPTURED

i had the same issue on my Audi, turned out the oilcooler rusted through and oil ended up in the water overflow/bottle.

Now i always run antifreeze as water alone cost me dearly.
