The BMW Performance Power Kit for the BMW 135i and BMW 335i redefines engine performance. The effects of the modifications to the engine tuning parameters include:

  • Increased torque of 430 NM (manual trans) or 450 NM (auto trans), available from just 1,500 rpm
  • Increased maximum output* of 240 kw (see graph image)
  • Faster acceleration from 0 to 120 km/h

Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions remain the same as the standard model. The warranty validity and vehicle quality are not compromised in any way. To deal with the extra heat generated as a result of the engine modifications, an additional radiator, air intakes, and more powerful fan for the main radiator are incorporated. Vehicles produced up to and including 2/2008 get a new DME (MSD81). Please contact your local BMW dealership for labour times and installation/coding quotes.

We are selling it & fitting it (for MSD81 cars). The chipped cars LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the extra cooling.

if u can organise the cooling bits only, we will have some buyers
not interested in the software

whats the difference between the oil cooler in this kit and the stock one?

There is no software in this kit. The older cars get a new ECU. But the newer cars get just the hardware for R 19 995. It's a lot of money, but 335's do have a heating problem & heat-soak can affect the performance dramatically.

wouldn't you better off investing in a better intercooler, instead?
I'm still trying to figure out why bmw did not do an upgrade on the intercooler if they were concerned about cooling.

Another question ... if there's no software, why the need to change the ecu?

Only cars built before Feb 2008 get a new ECU. Because the MSD81 gives BM more control. The R 19 995 price is with no new ECU. Just hardware.

An intercooler cools the intake charge after it has been compressed. Cooling of an engine entails a lot more than just cooling the intake charge. I'm sure BM did their research & maybe heatsoak in other parts of the engine were contributing to the loss of performance. They obviously saw a flaw in the cooling system & addressed it with this kit. An intercooler doesn't really cool the engine.

But hey, having both will be the best of both worlds.

so where's the extra power and torque coming from if there's no software?

Xpower, i will buy all those cooling goodies from you, if my own tuner can install it, without having to change my software or change the ECU.

I have MSD81; 335, March 2009 model.

Can this be done?

BMW quote those performance increases & the graph. I assume it comes from the car running cooler. The ECU has a boost map which has temperature on the 1 axis. So if the car is cooler it may well boost more. I dunno' how they got to those figures, I am just guessing here.

But the cars that have fitted the kit have all gained and they have all been stock. Stock cars gaining like 15-20hp on the wheels.

Forsure! The kit for your model is just hardware. You can install it & leave whatever software you have in. I think the price from BM for this kit is like R26k, but maybe someone here can call a dealer & get a quote.
