Non-Oem Alpina Wooden Gearknob Fitment Issue

Howsit guys… I am having an issue fitting the Wooden Aplina Gearknob to my E30.

The black pastic inner piece is too narrow to fit over the metal gearlever rod and the Wooden Knob also is a bit loose over the black plastic bit. As a result, the gearknob just slides off the rod

Now I imagine that these are non-oem bits so the fit is bound to be either too big or too small.

Does anybody have a hack to fix this issue or a shortcut so can install the gearknob and start shifting some gears

Use insulation tape on the shaft @ the top
make it a little thick on the top - wrapping it around the top edge
When you put the gear knob on , you will see it will be like tight, then just put pressure to push it down , it will be tight !

UPDATE

So I used the tape trick but used Duct tape instead of insulation as I did not have enough on hand.

Worked like a charm :)

While I was at it, made up a black vinyl gear boot coz the factory one was perishing piece by piece.

This is a Quick DIY for anyone who has some basic sewing skills and will allow you to modify your Gear boot every season if you fancy :)

Gearlever area now looks the part

I'll get around to posting some pics soon and creating a thread

Thanks guys and Dino
