Well I believe due discretion was taken, if someone starts off with just something for sale it doesn't seem like they are that interested in joining the community, but just here to sell their stuff, and the forum is not here for that, that is what gumtree, junkmail ect is for.

Why is this thread being alowed? I thought the rules were pretty clear:

In an effort to curb BMWFanatics being used as a local gumtree, we have limited access to the for sale section of the forum for members with less than 10 posts.

Once you have made more than 10 posts in other sections of the forum, you will automatically be moved into the normal registered users group, and you will be permitted to make new posts in the for sale section.
Please join in on some of the conversations and up your post count.

Happy Posting.
BMWFanatics Team.

Legacy, if we just go and ban left, right and centre, then we might scare off potential sponsors. I say give the guy a warning, which I did, and I decided not to ban him. If any of the other moderators don't agree, then fine, let them ban him, but I still stand behind my decition, rather educate him, and get him to be more interactive in the forum, than straight out banning him, and thus creating an enemy.
So Sportpack, I'm sticking out my neck here dude, are you going to drop me in the volcano now???

I never said the User needed to be banned, however the users' post is in direct violation of the forum rules and hence needs to be removed.

Now I don't know but that looks to me like terms being deligated to a moderator?? :dunno:

How about the thread today about the guy who wants to up his M3 to over 270km/h. Some nice poop slinging going on in there.

This is where I will end this discussion, seeing as friends are more important to me than my own opinion.

Here we go!

Seems the images don't work, will fix them and repost :)

Cant see the pics bud.....Agree with you on the unnecessary mud slinging on that thread. Its a crying shame :nonono: Too many threads are going the same route because of a general lack of respect for fellow members.

Firstly, I hope that the Wimpy breakfast 'run' went well:=):...then secondly and personally, I think that that the problem here is poor decisions based on assumptions...and it seems to be the overiding theme in Legacy's posts, well for me at least. There is an assumption that people will turn the site into a gumtree or autotrader et al. Just out of curiosity, how many 'gumtree' threads have been deleted to date?

While I can respect that there are rules and that they should be upheld, the decent thing to do would be to follow Coisman's example and practice discretion. PM'ing the offender or reading out the riot act on the offending thread is a more civil way to deal with these issues...and then you can justifiably delete a thread if the user does not participate instead of just taking out your big stick because you can...its less autocratic...just a thought...use it, don't use it

@Sportpack: The only poor decision that was made in this regard was the decision you made to disregard the rules and post something for sale and then when the thread was removed you ignored even more rules by questioning the decision in open forum. If you think that selling something on your first post is okay then maybe this is not the right community for you. I browsed this forum for more than a year before I made my first post and guess what... It was not something I was selling.

As to the assumptions that I apparently made, here are the facts: Over the last month or so there has been an increasing number of spammers on this forum trying to peddle their stuff. Hence when you come on here and make a first post which incedently is something for sale then can you blame anyone for thinking that you are a spammer and only here to sell stuff??

So if you think that I made the wrong assumption about your intensions then you need to spend some more time here and get to know this place a little bit better. This is a "sacred" place for some of us and we will not allow it to become something less than waht it is now. If you can not see this then well...

Of late there does appear to be a subtle change in the "feel" of the forum, where some individuals think it fine to mock and belittle other members who do not share the same views/opinions and preferences as themselves. If you are a person who fastiduosly maintains your car to oem standards or someone who chooses to run racing stripes over your car, both members should be afforded the same courtesy.

A little bit of courtesy and common sense goes a long way...

I've found there's a "mob mentality" on this forum ( Not like the yobo's in the UK)

But your post sums it up, if someone puts a pic up of something they have done to their car and the first two or three posts have negative things to say about it, everyone seems to just jump on the bandwagon and flame!:blab:
