n55 BMW Performance Upgrades

HI

1. What gains will be realised on the n55 when installing the power upgrade, perf air intake and perf exhaust.

2. The power upgrades apparently takes it up to 240kw. Is there added power when installing the air intake and exhaust? The dealership however said that you could get 250kw with the perf upgrades.

3. Is there a need to do any other upgrade (chassis/transmission) together with the engine upgrades?

Always start with what your goal is with or for the car: it depends what you want to achieve with the car and its intended use. Tracking/ drag racing/ styling/ audio/vid or just modding for the fun of it.

If you can answer that, than it is much easier to advise. One can add finances in the equasion as well because how much you have to spend can determine what you can do to the car.:thumb:

The important thing for me is the warranty as I use the vehicle for work purposes as well and don't want any issues should there be any problems. So ACS and BMW perf seem to be the best option when considering that.

I guess there isn't really any intention for drag racing or track driving. Its just about having the power under the hood (whilst still ensuring its safety). I would keep it standard in terms of ride and comfort as well.

So essentially I'd like to keep the car as standard as possible with the exception of having more power under the hood and acceleration. and knowing that I could give a 1M a good run when the lights go green.

As for price, well if it becomes unreasonable then it would be out of the question so I wouldnt want to spend more than what I would spend on a 1M. but i dont mind the premium at the same time for the warranty.

I hope this makes sense.

Yip. Your thinking makes perfect sense. The bmw performance kit is a good option but the power increase is slight and i doubt it would beat the new 1M.
I also agree with you to keep the suspension as is. Adding the bmw performance exhaust will free up some more ponies and a great sound.

There are aftermarket tunes available for the N55 but i feel it is only in the beginning stages and not as refined and strong as for the N54.

My view would be that you wait it out untill more proven/developed tunes become available in the next couple of months.

Thanks Twinz, I will keep my eyes tuned to these forums and wait till the refined tunes come out. But either way I'm loving the 135i.
