My VW Golf R

Yeah, I was a bit sceptical of too much water in the garage especially with me resting the car on tressles with those tressles resting on wooden planks to protect the tiles.

I bought the tressles just for this venture. So now that I have them, wheel arch detailing will be done way better now in the future. I can put the car on stands outside without planks using tressles and clean everything nicely. This was only done this way, so the R could stay locked up in the garage away from harm or dangers.

definitely, but let us not detract from the beauty that is your Golf R, stunning and tastefully( aka expensively) modded with the right parts.

Pure unadulterated smut. ..... ban this man :roflol::roflol:

That R is just awesome Porra. The rim colour pops really nicely from some angles. Was this a stock colour or did they blend you something uniqy?

Thanks for the comments guys!

The colour is black chrome. HiTech showed me a few examples of colours and shades I could pick from. There are thousands of shades of black chrome. All depends on the type of shading you want. Basically 3 layers of paint.

Hi guys... It has been a little while. Had a little disaster happen over the long Easter weekend.

I do not want to get into details of what happened over the accident for insurance purposes. There has been lots of unnecessary things done because of haters which I do not wish to discuss on a public forum. The only negative part from the haters is it affects my insurance now and could delay the repair process. I will win the case in the end, but unfortunately this will also take time.

As for the car, I was pretty lucky as I reacted in time by swerving out.

Cosmetic damage is my OZ wheel as well as the fender, right side of my bumper, right side section of bonnet and headlight. A new side skirt will also be needed. the rest of the centre grills and lower splitter remains untouched.

Structural damage is the lower right sill section slightly crumpled from my OZ wheel pushing it back. Right lower control arm, right driveshaft and possible rack damage. There is no damage to the right chassis leg so the motor is 100% and has not moved. The car even starts right. Driveshaft section by gearbox has been inspected and the gearbox is 100% as well. My windscreen washer bottle will need replacing too.

The only really negative part concerning the damage to my R is the passenger and driver airbag deployed. Now while this is replaceable/fixable, it is a very costly fix and I should know by the end of this week if my insurance decide to repair the car or not.

The car is at a very reputable bodyshop. Practically the best I know of. And with my level of attention, I wouldn't want it at any other place. Will keep the thread updated with repair process as I go along.

Very sad to hear of this incident Porra. The main thing is you and your passenger were uninjured.

The other upside is you can now get a 7R and do all the mods
:rollsmile::rollsmile:

Personally, I am very disappointed I won't be getting my ride in the car when I pass through town with my 540i:=):

Shit man... Been here before and it's a very crappy feeling, especially for a car lover. The car will be fixed and after a few months it will be a memory. Or you'd sell and move onto something else

Your life is more important and thank god you ok. Material stuff can be replaced

Not much has happened still with my insurance. They have appointed a 3rd party that does assessments and verification. So this is taking a while. Nothing much I can do except just wait and feel frustrated I guess.

In the mean time, I have tried to check out the rest of the car's damages and see what is really damaged and not.

Only real Drivetrain/suspension damage is the right front control arm and driveshaft.

Managed to source a set of Superpro lower control arms with integrated Anti Lift Kit from Shaun.

The ALK has integrated SuperPro bushings which sit off centre which help with the 'Anti-Lift'

And the arms are of high quality, just like OEM Passat alloy ones I had.

Further inspection and testing shows no damage to the knuckle, wheel bearing, steering rack or other suspension parts. The top shock mounting seems to have moved a bit, but not seriously. I already have some OEM TTRS top mounts with bearings to go in for that. Mounts are claimed to be a harder shore strength than the Mk6 ones.

And MJP sent me some new APR Fender vinyls as well which will go on later.

The wait is really frustrating me. Can't really do much about it. All a step at a time I guess. Gotta just stay positive. At least I can inspect my car for other damages carefully while I wait.

All the best Tony, hope the time goes a little quicker
Strange. I've re-uploaded pics with Tapatalk and still doesn't show on this forum. All other forums I'm on like VAG, Ford and OPC it does?

Just noticed that all my pics uploaded that used to be visible are no longer visible? All broken links? Admin, please advise?

There is a problem with the forum it seems, if pics is uploaded via tapatalk

Must be a recent problem? Cause I have always uploaded pics via Tapatalk. Even my old pics are not showing anymore.

finally can see pics. Just curious, why are you already replacing parts if you are still waiting for the insurance to make a decision?

Hope she will be back in your hands in no time though!

How the hell did I miss the updates on the thread,I am sorry to hear about the accident porra.
Like Adam said, the car is material and all that matters is that you and the passenger walked away from the accident.
It does suck that it happened though, keep us updated wrt the progress mate!!
Good luck.
