As far as I can tell it is real carbon fiber. Was thinking of posting up pics of the inside as well, but my main purpose last night was to get it fitted, and to tease the fanatics a bit, sorry guys
But I will post up pics of the inside and of all the stuff it has a bit later on, and I will try and get some videos, but its not a massive difference so you can't really tell from the videos.
Total price was around R3k (including shipping and duties), which I think is not bad for an intake that is better that the e46 intake that is pretty good already. How much better? BMW claim an increase of around 3HP, but on oversees forums guys posting dyno results that show much better gains, but I doubt I will see a lot of gains from this here at altitude, so probably not worth the money if gains is what you are looking for. (Still you need to keep in mind that to get gains out of the e46 intake system you will have to be spend quite a bit)
In terms of sound, it is worth every penny, it just give you that extra bit more induction noise, you can just hear that it is not standard.
In term of looks, it is probably the best looking performance intake around (unless you like the look of chrome piping and a blue cone in you BMW engine bay
) and a lot of guys in the US etc. are of the opinion, and I agree with this, is that you should get this (the intake) even if it is only for the looks, as is fills up the engine so very nice.
And thanks for all the comment guys, I am chuffed to bits
This is even cooler now after this month that I had a lot of things fail on my car one after the other, it is nice to fit something that the car doesn't actually need. This is also meant to be a early B-day present for my car as next month I will have owned her for a year.
