Anyone know where I can get the splitters locally

I could probably get you a set made up if you want.

Please Pm me pricing

I am looking for someone else to do it for me as the guy I used previously passed away. Will get back to you once I have someone.

Update time. Since the last update the car has been serviced twice, nothing much to report on this front. With the mileage now at just over 169k km and owning the car for just over 8 years I am now the person that has both owned the car the longest and driven it the furthest.

Back in the day when I got it I specifically went for a "silver" car (Titanium silver in this case) as I felt that as colour it might not be the most interesting, but that I would not get tired of it. 8 years down the road I can say that I was right I am still happy with my colour choice.

Apart from regular the regular services I have also done the following:
-Changed the main belt
-changed both the main belt tensioner pulley and idler pulley
-changed the main belt hydraulic tensioner
-changed the power steering fluid reservior o-ring
-changed the valve cover gasket (again it feels like)
-changed two coils (on two separate misfire related events)
-changed the oil filter housing gasket
-replaced the driver's door window regulator (also again)
-replaced front brake pads
-replaced lower control arm bushes

Don't have pics of everything, but here are some pics of here and there:

@Sankekur, what suspension work and what options are you looking at? :fencelook:

The first thing was shocks (all round) as they are really on their last. Did consider the coilover route and researched it a bit, but a couple of things swayed me away:
-I don't want the car any lower, and all the coilovers I could would lower the car. For some reason the cheaper the coilover the more they seem to lower the car. The best (least lowering) I could find was Olins, but they would be far to expensive.
-Price, honestly just much higher than I expected, also considerably higher than a set of quality shocks.
-One of the guys at Koni (whose job it would be to sell the most expensive parts) recommended against it, the car being a daily primarily.

So I ended up going for a set of Koni sports.

The other stuff is just front suspension related, need to change anti-roll bar links, lower control arm bushes (again) and anti-roll bar links. Then I am also considering changing the lower control arm while I am at it, but I am still on the fence regarding this.

You would've seen my thread on the suspension and the cost is crazy. Even with the discounts from ABM, OEM costs a pretty penny. I managed to buy the shocks, springs, lower control arm lollipops and strut bars so far. I have been battling to get decent aftermarket parts for the rest of the items, nobody stocks Meyle HD anymore.. Its all Febi or SWAG, Lemforder sourcing route is still being established and there is a long lead time to get them here.

Would be nice to know what route you are thinking of going for the parts?

I believe I have (will have to check). The price is part of the reason I am still on the fence. Also I am not big Meyle fan as I have had some pretty poor part quality from them in the past. I have given them a last chance when redoing my 540i's front suspension, and will see how it goes. So on the lower control arm I might have to end up just going dealer if I don't come right otherwise. The end links I will probably go dealer. The Lower control arm bushes I have gotten a set of powerflex poly bushes that I want to give a go as I seem to go through these very quickly. I will see if it is a compromise I can live with. I might also make a mod or two on them to improve their daily-ability (for lack of a better word) but will post up about this when i have actually done something. The shocks are Koni sport as mentioned before.
