Hi Everyone,
I'm Shan. Just picked up a 96 328i. Im new to actually owning a BMW. I have downloaded and printed all 790 pages of the Bentley manual. I will post pictures soon however it is a bone stock 328i with a few cosmetic and interior issues. The engine and gearbox seem fine however there seems to be a few issues with the suspension / brakes. I am on a tight budget so I am looking to firstly complete a basic service then address other issues in order of importance / affordability. I may have let excitement and fear of losing out on a bargain get the better of me by impulsively buying an original M3 kit excluding the wheels. I have topped up the power steering fluid but I am guessing that I will have to bleed and replace the fluid when doing the service after payday. I have also committed to taking the car down to Durbs to have a brand new interior fitted at a good price. Thereafter I will look at refreshing the suspension and adding some wheels. Lastly fit the M3 kit which will be needing a respray ( along with the boot and roof of the car as the clear coat is peeling ). The car has 250000km on it. I would love advice as to where to start. Doing some reading on the internet states that a good place to start is the cooling system but the car never heats up more than half so I actually want to address the shudder on the steering when braking from speed. Ruins the sheer driving pleasure for me right now. I hope its just balancing / alignment and not the brake disks...so much to do, so little time..
