Ok, so I just spoke to the mech, he says it's the crankcase vent valve that is busted. I google'd it, and now know what it looks like. :thumb:
So who has ever replaced theirs themselves, and how nasty a job is it??

You will have change the hoses thats connected to it too. Is your car smoking?

Iam having the same problem. What happens is if the bottom pipe is blocked or the oil seperator itself is blocked it pushes oil into the intake and into the combustion chamber, there you will have a bit of smoke and a howling sound.

replace it A.S.A.P. as you could end up having to change you valvecover gasket too.

Mine is at the mechanic now, got the oil seperator and one hoses waiting on the other 2 hoses.

Will keep you updated.

I think my valve cover gasket is alreadt moer-toe, cause above my exhaust manifold its pushing through oil... Not allot, but it's there.

PS. No smoking, runs fine.

Coisman thats exactly what happened to my car except no vacuum noise...

i replaces one of the vacuum pipes for the pcv and it seems to be good now... did you take the cover off over the intake manifold? the pipe i replaced was there...

Cois if your cars valve cover gasket is leaking just remember to check the plug holes for oil, oil there could damage the coil packs, and you don't want to replace that as well.

Guys, some more bad news...
I spotted an oil leak on the exhaust manifold side, and the mechanic tells me its either just the tappet cover gasket thats FUBAR, or it might be the Tappet cover thats cracked!!!
If its just the gasket, he is asking me R850 to replace it, including the gasket, BUT... if its the cover, then he will have to get one from bmw, as bemows aint got one, and goldwagen dont keep it.
I still also need to do the crank case vent valve, but for now the gasket is more important, as its leaking oil onto the exhaust :mmm:

Why would the cover be cracked, have not really seen that happen before, unless it was hit with something.

did you change the pcv? it can crack the tappet cover by making too much pressure...

No, it needs replacing too, but I aint got enough $$$ now, so the gasket is a bigger priority...
EISH!!!! what to do!!!???

Coisman - the gasket is easy to DIY - I have all the tools for that.
You are welcome to come over for this.
When I did my vanos fix, this was part of the repair.
You just need to be sure that the tapped cover is fine.
I believe if it is the tapped cover, you will have to replace the gasket anyway, because it turn from rubber to brittle plastic and it breaks into pieces during removal...

Frikkie, thanks for the offer. :thumb:
My problem is I'm working saturday, and sunday, well, is sunday...
I really appreciate your offer, and I would gladly take you up on it, but I am scared to keep driving my baby like this.
Otherwise I must just let Jacques do the PCV (crank case vent valve) tomorrow, and then maybe you and I do the tappet cover gasket sunday while the woman do the food... :mmm:

i read it can crack it, but its way more common for it to cause the gasket to fail... i think it only cracks if there is a casting imperfection...
