i just spent a full 10min trying to find something on the car that i like...

its like they deliberately designed it to have no redeeming features at all...

even the fiat looks awesome in the pic...

Moronar, i can vouch for one thing is that you proved to him that obviously the car broke due to some "unforseen" curcumstance but i think you confused him when it came to you having so muhc more knowledge.

here is Mrmazdas story:

So I did the yuppie thing and bought a 528i against my dad's advice to buy a Merc.

Firstly they had only auto's in stock so after a huge fight gave it to me a manual price.

A few days later while filling it with petrol, neither the petrol attendant or I could get the bonnet opened to check fluid levels. Back to BMW. Took it into the workshop and came back after a few minutes with the news that they can't open it iether! So they gave me a loan car & promised to deliver it to me once sorted. Car arraived at my office the next day with scratches on the bonnet. So obviously my toys went flying all over the show. They then fetched it again and had the bonnet repaired and actually did a good job.

About six months later I was at a client in Ellisras when my wife phoned to tell me that my son was very ill and was being admitted to hospital in Alberton. So I obviously left what I was busy with jumped into the car and put foot. 15 Km out of Ellisras the dashboard lit up what looked like a Xmas tree. Gearbox & engine lights came on. The G/box went into limp mode & engine revs limited to +- 2500. This was at 6500km. So I turned back and limped back. Borrowed client's car and came back home. Arriving at the hospital the little lad was in theatre with severe allergy reaction, blocked chest etc.

In any event the next day I went to BMW. They then informed me that they will fetch the car, but only to the nearest dealer (Pietersburg). After a hell of a fight I borrowed a car trailer from my favourite Mazda dealer took dad's B2000 and fetched the piece of crap.

They then replaced a hell of a lot of stuff including the oil cooler, radiator, did head overhaul since the thing overheated.

After that all was ok until about 8000 km when the g/box played up again. It turned out that a head gasket had blown and engine & G/box overheated. They replaced the G/box and repaired the engine again. By now I was demanding a new car. Just after 13000km the fricking thing played up again and after huge fights with the dealer, BMW SA & Germany they replaced it. I paid a small amount into the deal to get followings years manual model.

To cut a very long sad story short the second one was ok until it reached 18000 km. Towing my boat that I towed with a 1600 Meteor before it started jumping out of gear.
They removed the g/box and adjusted some internal levers and replaced all the rubbers on the linkages etc. Shortly afterwards this car burnt valves. They then said it was running to lean and replaced a heck of a lot of spares again.

At about 26 000 km it blew a head gasket and my fight began again. I eventually put it on a trailer with extremely nasty stickers on the windows and parked it outside BMW's factory in Pta. They eventually agreed to replace both engine & G/box, but was not prepared to trade it back on another one.

My favourite Mazda dealer settled the lease, using the discount on a new 626 to achieve this and arranged finance on the 626 at full retail price.

So can I be blamed for hating the crap? I don't think so. One Mazda is better tha 40 BMWs!

2 of the same cars get the same failures? If all BMW's were like that then the roads would be littered with abandoned BMW's. I'm sorry, but he was doing it wrong.

Mazda has focused itself on a value for money and efficiency as a brand, so if you're in the market for something like this - get a Mazda.

BMW on the other hand has always had focus on luxury and performance being a huge part of their brand, as well as over-engineering everything (hehe) Saying this then, shows that both manufactures have built a stigma for themselves.

It'll take a long time for Mazda to reach the BMW standard for cars.

Ok I have to admit when BMW's break, they can do it in style if they want to. if you are not used to the brand it would scare you off forever, but then you will never know what you missed.

I have mildly overheated one BMW in 20 years, this guy overheats two in a year. the 528i has a red warning light that's supposed to come on, maybe he missed it.

Also.... Who replaces an oil cooler for a car overheating? Does this guy have any pictures of his BMW'S?
