Yeesh if I did not know better, I would think you guys are the Haters....:fencelook:

Nic you really need to DIY on your car more!

What's the point of designing an spectacular exploding clip or rivet if the owner never gets to experience that joy?

"JOY" fitted as standard to your BMW....now there is a company taking the DIYer in consideration...

@LTX - I dont think its fair comparing a 4.2Litre v8 to a 2.5 litre straight six. both cars are old....

I agree with you about not criticising the entire brand because of a few bad experiences.....

I love my beemer, but i dont hate on other brands. Theyre just a lil behind in the evolutionary chain.... :)

Sorry XMAX, let me give you a couple of reasons why I can compare a 2.5 to a 4.2

1: the bmw wieghs about 1.3 tons, the merc is about 1.7 tons
2: the merc is automatic , the BMW is manual
3: the bmw has limited slip diff, the merc has a lock diff wich steals a lot of power

4: the merc is 10 years older than the BMW and has mechanicle fuel injection where the BMW has as far as I know electronic injection.

Thank You.

330i's are Marginally heavier on fuel than the 328i, but the 330i is just soooo much better, trust me on that one, really worth the 0.something l/100km difference in fuel consumption.

Thank You Sankekur.

any advice on what to look for when buying a 330i as well as fuel economy, open road, in town ?

Ideas would be highly apreciated. :praise:

Well look out for the normal e46 bits cooling system (would probably want to overhaul this when you buy a car just for good measure), suspension/bushes, then the clutch if it shudders or slips you will probably have to look at replacing it.

Consumption, just urban in traffic driving I got 12l/100km and just open road (trip to durban) I got 6.8l/100km on the way down and it went up to 7.2 on the way back, but it depends a lot on the lightness of your foot :)

i also thought the 330i would be heavy on fuel, but it seems to only burn a bit more than i do... if i knew before i would have gotten a 330i...
