happened with a gti here at menlyn vw in pretoria, apparently there was a tracking device on it and was traced to a garage in a block of flats in sunnyside

Geez guys but you watch too many movies eh? :roflol:

1. The car is in Transport Mode, not Valet, Transport mode. This means it cant rev more than 3k and doesnt allow full throttle, only partial.

2. The cars electronics are de-actived. No wipers, lights, guages, aircon, radio, nothing.

3. The cars are shipped with literally 500ml Fuel. Its not unheard of for a car to drive off the truck and run out of fuel on it way up to the workshop.

4. Both keys are transported together, one in the boot and the other with the driver of the truck. The keys are also deactivated, cars can only be open and closed by using the actual metal key within the standard key. The boot is locked as per transport mode, only a dealer can de-activate it to access the spare, carpets, trim pieces and User Manual etc.

Anyone who tried to steal a car off a car carrier is an idiot. Rather steal it once its been PDI'ed, Transport Mode de-activated and is on its way to the petrol station for a full tank as per BMW's customer sales requirements...

Thats how several C63 AMG's have been stolen in JHB, and yes... There they do block the car with two cars, put a gun to your head and ask you to step out before taking the car and leaving you there.
