one thing Im not sure of is this new plateau in the me M power curve

this will make the high RPM on the new M feel a bit dead compared to the last M :(

the nice thing about it is it should allow you to stay on power while shifting gears :)

what do you think?

It is a very nice turbo curve

but will you miss the fire works all the way to redline?

Maximum torque is in much earlier than the V8, coupled to traction control, and you see and believe that fantastic claimed 0-100km/h time.

Hope the transmission is beefed up to handle the extra torque so much more earlier and 150nm more torque as well. The V8 developed max torque at 3900rpm, the new M3/M4 develops max torque from 1850 right through to 5500 rpm. Should make drifting and power slides easy as the max torque is spread out from 1850 - 5500rpm and available earlier.

The V8 was a bit lazy at low revs, but that is the nature of a V8, but screams higher up the rev range.

New one will be a handlful in the rain even with the traction control on................

i hate that torque curve ... so you will get an initial shove and then ... thats it before it starts dying down ... lol

so if im reading that right ... shove at 2000rpm ... constant and then torque dies at 5500rpm ... unless it revs slowly between 2000rpm and 5000 rpm lol

EDIT: actually it could be a nice thing :) ... constant 550nm

I am no pro but to me it seems that by the time it redlines it's still making 400nm witch is the same as V8 at max , the sound track mite be different , but the performance is will be in a new league.

It will feel very clinical and robotic....

That high rpm big smile inducing climax will be missed :(

Yes I was talking about the car..... Lol

how many diesel guys bother to rev past peak power?

to the *35 guys rev past 6000 rpm?

with the current M3s you almost dont want to stop at the redline because they still very strong...

these curves will most definitely change the feel of the car...

Will most definitely be faster, but I reckon it will be less exciting. That deadness that happens when power levels off isn't nice. As a daily driver to enjoy acceleration it's great, but when you buy and M3/4, you buy it to rev the nuts off it and get excited.

And you won't be hearing this:

Yeah its probably going to be the same like the E60 M5 vs F10 M5, even though the F10 is faster, the drive of the V10 E60 M5 is still something to behold, the V10 does scream..................:praise:

N/A FTW
