M2 or M235i

I showed it to the new owners of the dealership . The new owners say they have no obligation to honour any agreements that previous owners made with anyone .

If the legal entity (the dealership) persists, so do any existing obligations

Legally if the dealership was purchased with all liabilities and assets, then they are obliged to honour it where a deposit was paid. If you look at the fact when you buy a house you as the new owner are now liable to reimburse the municipality for all debt on that property. I would suggest you seek legal advice. 1 to sue for your deposit plus interest in this case you may apply the 'Usary' rate which is substantially higher compounded Monthly, to sue for pain and suffering watching others drive the M2 until such time that they are able to supply one and sue for the difference in price should there be a price increase. Consult a good Attorney yes this is SA and not the US but it no one here is willing to hit back and if you want the car hit Back!

I think most folks would opt for the M-DCT, making manual examples more rare...

Nevertheless, I'd go manual for sheer enjoyment.

M-DCT if you're the TLGP/Drag racing type

Well as you all may I have realised is that I did not choose the M235i but I am waiting for a M2.

This past weekend I signed an RTP form. Now it is just time to sit back and wait for an allocation. I am 3rd on the list, behind the owner and his daughter of the dealership.

My chosen specs:
Black shape metallic
Sunroof
Harmon Kardon
DCT (after much debate and still not sure I chose the right option)

Congrats!

There's no "right" decision here, you'll love it regardless

I had a chat with BMWSA today . Last Wednesday , I was told by BMW SA to call last week Friday . When i called, the lady handling my case was out .i left a message. She never returned my call . I called yesterday . She was out again . Left message . She never returned my call . I called BMWSA today again. Her senior came on line . I had to repeat the whole story again about the dealership not honouring their agreement. I told him about suing for pain and suffering when an M2 whizzes past me . He said he will talk to dealership and revert to me . Still waiting . Time ticking !!! Am do envious but happy for kaoshunter . What more can i do . How do I send s message to the CEO of BMW SA etc

Complaining loudly on Twitter, HelloPeter (then the Hellopeter complaint to the BMW SA Facebook page BMW SA Facebook page and getting people to share it far and wide), consumer forums in your local newspaper. Usually gets you a hasty tail-between-the-legs solution. Be sure to complain about both the dealership and BMW SA. Include the picture of your letter, but maybe blank out your personal details. Explain the nasty attitude of the new owner. I think you've tried to remain civil and follow official internal BMW channels for long enough. Maybe don't mention "pain and suffering" just yet, that's between you and your lawyer.

Sounds like a sh*t situation. I actually usually get all BMW's from fordicks but SA changed to another dealer in fourways, but now she cannot help me since there 'list' (when they are not even sure they are getting a M2 this year) had started before she got there. So I just looked around and found another dealer that can help me. I have not payed anything yet as my dealer says he will only take a deposit once he has an allocation. He has assured me, plus if you read any reviews on the car, that I will eventually get one since there is not limit on production. It will just take a while for them to start sending more so the first year wont see many.

imomar, you aren't alone. Below is a FB post from one of my friends (currently a 1M owner) regarding his attempt at purchasing an M2:

Totally disappointed in BMW. Maybe time for a change. When u order a BMW 1M and wait a year and get told by the dealer u can't get one and have to end up buying from JHB - JSN it makes u wonder. Now ordered a BMW M2 in Feb 2015 from the same dealer only to get told now they not sure if we will get M2 in 2017. Contacted 5 other BMW dealers around the country and suddenly u find u could have been 1st on there list but now have to wait maybe to 2017 for delivery. Maybe a Mustang next bet

Looks like I am not alone. See my post on 21 February 2016 in this forum re my written commitment . Did u get yours in writing ?
This is what I got from BMWSA yesterday :
Dear Dr Omar

We herewith refer to our previous discussion and reference e-mail from Mr Tayob.

At this junction we are unable to confirm allocations of the M2 to the SA market nor are we able to advise of the distribution of the said vehicle to the various dealers.

BMW Regards,

BMW Group
Segment Financial Services
Mr Dean Hendricks
Joint Customer Interaction Centre (SF1-ZA-S-2)
Regional Manager: Aftersales
1 Bavaria Road, Randjespark Ext 17 Midrand 1685

All I am asking of BMWSA is to honour their dealerships commitment to me. I am not asking to be immediately allocated as many other countries too have not received allocations .
