i was in joburg this week on holiday and found almost every F30 3-series that i saw plastered with //M logos. even 320i's... whats the deal with this?

its quite sad to see how BMW have made this logo so mainstream nowdays. i guess its the same with AMG's too. back in the day these logos actually seemed like a really special thing.

cause they can>?

It's like men wearing TapOut gear without ever stepping in an octagon, wearing puma racing boots to the coffee shop without ever driven on a track, or people wearing expensive training gear at the gym but doing biceps in the squat rack...

Yes, dont worry that problem isnt just with the F series, there is some E series guys also that is //M logo nuts. You keep on seeing the M logo on the side and like oeeeee and when the car goes by you realize that some idiot with a 320i has plastered his car with it.

If the guy wants the little badges leave him be. If it is going all out with stickers and bad aspect ratios, an M in front of the xxxi in a totally different size and horrible placement then that is very annoying.

M performance is here to stay and all the mainstream guys are doing it. You can buy VW stuff with 'R' trim and Audis etc with S-trim. AMG has probably devalued itself the most in recent times. Pointless getting upset by it. M Performance stuff isn't badly priced (if you have a good parts guy) and in my experience has been high quality relative to reps.

There was a really great 335i non-m-sport which came up for sale the other day and on the group we were saying that if anything the owners of sport or modern lines actually have the rarer or 'sleeper' cars not plastered with M badges everywhere.

I have said it before and I will say it again:

People who don't know cars, don't know what it means.

People who know cars, know its fake.

SO ITS JUST STUPID!

I totally agree with you. Before if a car had an AMG badge on it, you knew it was tuned for performance by AMG and you expected something special from it.

Now days even a normal c180 has the amg badge along with the whole amg kit.

Same goes for BMW M badge . :cry:

What if the ///M badge came with the car?

My 435i came those small ///M badges on both front fenders.

It's simple, it's greed. Call it ///marketing or whatever.
Yeah it's hear to stay, doesn't mean I have to agree with the concept.
///Sucks

///M is aspirational and not everyone can afford a beast.

People align themselves with brands for different reasons, there's no harm in putting up a poster on your wall of the car of your dreams, there's no harm in decorating your car the way you like.

No matter what driving a RWD BMW is something special - even if there's no M pedigree attached.

TBH its still pretty easy to distinguish between a normal model and an M.

I agree with you. If the guy wants to do it let him do it... and BMW (or Aliexpress/Ebay) will gladly make money off it. There is a market for it or else it would not exist. This is not because of Evil BMW/Mercedes/Audi but because of people. If there is a market for such things why are these company 'greedy' for doing this?

If there was such large market demand for something that you were personally making, would you call yourself greedy for meeting that demand?

What the badges and brands means to each of us is different at the end of the day, some of us wear Scuderia Ferrari shirts because we have supported the team since shortly after birth. Others wear them because they think folks will believe they drive Ferraris...

as we all know, /// More = better

/// More tailpipes = better

Therefore

/// More /// M badges = better

Saw a taxi in Jozi with ///M Power sticker, personally it doesn't bother me. If someone feels an ///M let them express it in their own way

Ok then, just know that there are us who think you look stupid and ridicules with your M badges on a NON M bmw. Take it as it is.

Those badges are meant for the BMW exclusive brands. If you bmw came from the factory like that, understandable (we still going to look at it as eish) but dont plaster your 4 pot with it, that's just stupid.

We understand it is your choice and value you for that decision but we will always think this way when we see your car, so just expect the eye drop, WTF moment on our face, not because it looks awesome but for the other reason.

The ///M badges are one thing but when some idiot puts an ///M3 badge on a 320i… :skit::hammerhead:
