F26 X4 M Sport harsh ride?

Howsit guys, I just recently purchased an F26 X4 2.0D M SPORT with the 20inch wheels. BMW have just put new tyres on the fronts as well. Unfortunately i am finding the ride very hard, espescially for an "X" car. I have other m sport cars but this is a lot harder. Are all F series m sports this harsh or would it just be the low profile runflat tyres?

Currently its running on 275/35/20 on the rear and 245/40/20 on the fronts. Tyres are good year excellance rft. My G01 X3 has 19inch rft and its like chalk and cheese compared to the X4. (yes it has much bigger profile tyres but its crazy different)

Would removing the runflats for normal tyres make such a difference or would i also have to increase profile to 275/40/20 and 245/45/20 in order to feel a difference. I am worried that if i increase the profile it might affect the transfer case and diff because of the x-drive system.

What would you guys recommend?

Sorry dont have pics of the car as it has been raining since i got the car.

Have you checked the tyre pressures that were filled bud, normally new tyres supposed to be buttery smooth when first driving?

Secondly, with regards to the suspension, is there anything that needs work on it perhaps? I know you bought it from a dealership but here could be something not picked up. Those profiles that you are referring to are quiet low, but I do recall I one of the guys on here with an F25 X3 30d (I think it is @Riaad ) who upgraded his profiles to the G01 type which is the ones you referring to above and he has no issues and the the car looks better and I think he mentioned and improvement in ride quality as well. But for sure, the profiles he fitted, the 45/40 gave the car a nice, flush and meaty look too.

I have the G01 and my profile is the 45/40 and it is comfortable but the 19inch rim sets are world apart even on the G01 to G01 comparison, its very soft.

I remember test driving the F26 X4 30d with the MSport set up with 20s, and it was quiet firm...not harsh but it had a firm ride but it handled pretty insane. I think the profile upgrade might do it good.

Yep @AshG108 its me 😄

Good years are quite Harsh compared to the competitors - Michelin , and Pirelli are known to offer a better ride. That said, the oem 20" profiles on the F25/6 are wayyyy to low for a SUV.

in my experience, the upsized G01 20" spec offers ride quality on par (maybe slightly better) than non RFT stock F25/6 profiles

keep in mind, I only test fitted Michelin Primacy on the F25, Bridgestone Alenzas would rub the fender lining, so your mileage will vary

@AshG108 Thanks for the advice. Yes the ride is firm.... BMW did also replace shocks so suspension is good. First thing i checked was tyre pressure and it was way off at 3.5 (so much for bmw quality check), but even after adjusting the tyre pressure its still too firm for my liking and also our roads are no more what they used to be.... if its not already in pieces the road is full of patches everywhere, unfortunately not allowing one to enjoy the better handling side of having such low profile tyres.

@Riaad so from what i understand the 40/45 profile on the F25/6 will rub fenders on some tyres? i thought it would a simple swap 🙈
Any issues with the gearbox/transfercase?

Yeah Riaad went with the Michelins because of tyre design, the Alenzas are a bit fatter and taller while the MIchelins are more square and a bit lower. I have seen this on my tyres too when checking the tyres out, I have the Michelin Latitute Sport 3 and they look more slimmer than the Bridgestone Alenzas.

The first problem is the wheel size. Second problem is runflats.

It if were me, I’d downsize to 19s and add non runflats for a noticeable difference.
