Hi All,

Got a brake lining warning today, so time for new pads and discs all round, its something that I wanted to do anyway.

So my aftermarket guy can get me some decent prices, BMW is just insane, my question however relates to what about a bit of an upgrade for the same money more or less (forgot the prices at work)

Any suggestions ?

Freerider, very interesting

So do you recommend a complete replacement, calipers as well, do they work with the standard ABS pump, or just discs and pads and do the calipers later, Im on a bit of a budget at the moment as I was only planning on purchasing the E34 next year.

But can squeeze a couple more bucks now for the decent stuff, I believe money spent on the tires/brakes is an investment.

Anybody have experiance with them ?

Thanks, gonna mail them now

Send me a pic of the sensor cable. I got some lying around for the E36 and E46. The longer one should also fit the E34.

hmm, I'm interested to hear how much they quote you...

They quoted me 28K for my big brake kit for the E39.. but its the same calipers and discs they use for the ferrari 360 challenge track cars...

Clutchy, with those brakes the braking power is amazing (I'm talking about the prostreet kit) and I was quoted R3200 for the discs and pads for my car.

So I just keep picking up luck with this car.

Had the car at Dennis today, there is a bit of a whine, but the box is pretty much ok, no valve body needed, nothing that a oil change wont sort out, but its not going to last forever, its gonna die in the next 5k to 10k I imagine and Im not going to fix it, time to start collecting for the manual conversion.

However, that still left me with the clunking/change down issue, so if its not the box, has to be the diff or propshaft right, something has got to be broken, but.... tighten up the main bolts on the diff, clunk is GONE...

Fancy that :excited:

Clutchy is gonna hate me for this one as well...

I cant stop smiling about this car, but its about time I have some luck.

I have had my fair share of disasters as well.

Paid 220 for a scooby, spent 100k on it just in repairs (gearbox, main bearings, turbo, bla bla bla), and sold it for 95k 3 years later, and I did not put a scratch on that car :)
