They are perfect for track days.
Apart from offering better and more consistent grip (you get similar lap times over at least 50 laps), they last much longer on the track than road tyres.
Biggest reason for this is the softer compound, that means no ripping of rubber out of the tyres. On normal road tyres, pieces of rubber will get ripped off, especially if the tyre has a lot of tread left.
Also, a semi's sidewall is much more stiffer than a road tyre, that means you have a bigger contact on the road, and again better tyre wear.
I won't use it as an every day tyre, as it makes a helluva noise, and is terrible in the wet.
