Whilst I am not new to the tuning scene, I am new to bmw, been doing lots of reading on the site.
Car is a EWG M135 AT8, Wagner DP (200cel ***), k&n flat filter, JB4 with 3.31 FW, Running map 5. Fuel is 95 RON + 10% ethanol. OEM Plugs on 30k km. JHB based
I do have a set of NGK 5992 plugs that I could fit as I have felt 1 or 2 miss fires in the 2200-2600 rpm range on occasion (generally in 7th and 8th gear)
I keep having a problem where my JB4 kicks me back to Map 4 from Map 5 on a daily basis,
All on default settings with the exception of boost limit in 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
I does it at random times, haven't notices a smooth pull at WOT do it, but rather when I short shift or unsettle the car with short shift.
I did pull a few logs and from what I can understand I need some help.
Logs below of a few pulls.
My observations:
IAT are low (outside temp is 7-8*C (46*F)
Running lean (mid 13's) throughout
FP H running in mid teens.
timing is ok, but it seems to add timing and then pull it mid run (4700RPM)
boost is smooth and follows target nicely
Ave Ing sits around 2.1-3 even after a few pulls.
Car drives and responds fantastically. But you can feel the timing pull at about 4500rpm.
I decided to change the boost parameters for the last log (150611_0659) and picture (061115_0806) in the user adjustments to max of 15.5psi to see if it helped. I took the boost curve of some default map 5 runs and plotted that but limiting the mid range to 15,5psi instead of ±17psi. timing does look a bit better, albeit flat, but at least its not up n down)
it seems to have helped as the timing seemed happier and it hasn't booted me back to map 4 yet. (log 150611_0659)
having looked at my FP L I think i can increase my eth content to 20%
Do I need to adjust any of the user adjustment variables?
is there anything else I need to do.
I can't seem to add the logs as attachments!!:smashScreen:
