i dont have the equipment for Tungsten Carbide, but i can go a titanium and carbon ring :) i do hand made jewellery Tungsten Carbide is too unworkable for me... it will probably be a mass produced import i dont know anyone what works with the stuff... if you dont come right with the Tungsten i could do a custom Ti ring for you just let me know :)

cant wait for the vids... is the car not riding very high now because you removed weight?

the e46 325i has duel 50mm i would go bigger 57mm fits the e46 quite nicely... find someone who can mandrel bend 57mm pipe for you

But this is a e36.
Do you mean go for single 57mm or dual 57mm instead of dual 50mm?

I got a quote on dual 50mm for 3k. Just asking.....I would like to know what dimensions for an exhaust would suit the 328i best.....I'm looking to replace mine soon.

Thanx for the heads up, will defs keep you in the loop.

Yeah man it is very high, struggled in the parking area section at the oval. The suspension is very SQUIDGY and having the inside wheel spin the whole time makes me flippen mal. Need to put the LSD in...

i mean 57mm duel is the biggest you would want to go on a 2.8l im not 100% sure it will fit the e36 but a good exhaust shop should be able to tell you :)

why dont you try those cheap jamex springs from autostyle they horrible for the road but they are quite stiff so should be ok for you :)

i also found this the other day for increasing negative front camber:
bmwcamberkitsmall.jpg

chamber1.jpg

you need to use 12.9 grade bolts and dont worry about it stressing something people have been using this forever without any negitive effects

an idea of how much chamber you can get on a slightly lowered car...
1 shim gave 2.5 degrees
2 shims gave 3.5 degrees
3 shims gave 4.5 degrees

a good track setup for the e36 is:
Front
Camber: -3.5 deg
Toe: 0 (0.10-0.20 total toe out for autox)

Rear
Camber: -2.0 to -2.5 deg
Toe: 0.20 total toe in

im not sure how much camber you can put in before your wheel will touch the shock a street/track setup is:

Front
Camber: -2.5 deg
Toe: 0

Rear
Camber: -1.5 to -2 deg
Toe: 0.20 total toe in

im not sure how much camber you can get at the back with stock adjustment you’ll have to find out then decide how much to put :)

Gees dude, thats awesome stuff. Thanx for the pics and everything. :)

I was thinking about the autostyle springs, wanted to ask on the forum, but I have seen a few posts about autostyle purchases and the FLAMING from the other forum members. So, I'm glad you brought it up first. :D

As for the pipes, Powerflow said R1800 for the same system that the Clubmans E36's are running, using the std branches. have been looking for the M3 branches.. but R1000 per branch is pricey. Rather use the 2k for other parts.

i was hoping to use the bolts and shims on my car but the e46 has a different arrangement so its impossible :(

dont get me wrong the jamex springs are rubbish for the road but i think for track use they will do the job least till you need coilovers :)

i dont think M3 branches will be good they tuned to high flow high rpm it would be better to get tnt or viper

You also did some work on the car though.
Pumped the rear tyre up. Twice.
Put the back seats back in.

Hehe, otherwise things are going slowly. I'll also need to get a few things sorted on the E39 before starting on the race car :)

It's been a while since an update on the car was done and after the work done this weekend - I think it deserve a few pics.

Firstly I had the 360 deg of death key problem commonly found on the E36. Then it stopped turning and got stuck in IGN 1 position. Most frustrating.
Freerider offered his brains and skills to attempt to fix this issue on Saturday morning.

After stripping the steering column to gain access to the wires and shit (now you see why I needed help) we removed the little red thingie at the back and connected a strip connector to it.
IMG_0398.jpg

We used an old center console unit to fit the switches and push start.
Plenty of tag team reaming to ensure a snug fit... 1 broken vice, nearly losing a finger and a few minutes of hysterical laughter we managed to fit the ACC and IGN switches.

Here is an action shot of Freerider going in for the kill.

Not even a stumble the car starts. The ews is still active so I can insert the key, flick ze sweetchez and hey presto she starts. Then I can remove the key and she still runs. Flick ze Sweetchez off and try with out the key and it's a no go. So I still have security on the car. BIG PLUS POINT. :)

Don - without your electric wires and shit know how - I would have been lost or minus a finger or two. Thank you for the help.

So we decide that after the F1 on sunday we could quickly change the diff to the 3.46 Freerider had also organised for me.

Firstly.. do not attempt this job if you are doing by yourself and want to be done in 1 day. Cos it's a MISSION.

Firstly remove old Diff:
IMG_0422.jpg

Then fit new diff with fresh diff oil.
IMG_0412.jpg

Me tightening the +-20 different nuts and bolts. Thankfully Freerider was operating the handbrake otherwise it would have taken for EVER to do.
IMG_0421.jpg

Showing off the dirty hands- next time Gloves... Hold on I hope there wont be a next time. Unless the LSD arrives soon :p
IMG_0423.jpg

Added some stickers...

And I took her for a spin. Got her warmed up and gave her a little bit of stick down the back road - WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Im not joking when I say this: With the Decat, the serious diet plan she was on and the new diff - VERY near E36 M3 acceleration.
Super happy and cant wait till the track day this weekend.

Once again.. Freerider - You are a legend! Thanx bro. Lunch wasnt half bad either :p

Grant, Justin, Mike - Your wise cracks and comments helped keep me smiling as I fought trying to line up bolts, drop diffs and dig grease and 20yr + old dirt out my eyes ;-)

And as for the lithium grease sprayed down my crack while fitting something in the car... Revenge is SO SO Sweet. Never forget that Don. :)

what? diff swap takes me a few hours now alone :)

short ratio is nice hey

Would have taken a hell of a lot less time if there wasn't beer and a whole lot of shit talking going on :)

Only a pleasure Simon, was a good laugh.

Sent from my GT-I9100 using a de-tuned F1 engine.
