HI GUYS

TODAY I CHECKED MY CARS WATER LEVEL. WHEN I OPENED THE CAP, THE FLOATING DEVICE WAS AT "LOW", BUT WHEN I OPENED THE BLEED VALVES IT WENT TO THE "FULL" MARK.

SO I DONT KNOW IF THE CAR NEEDS WATER OR NOT.

ANY COMMENTS WILL BE APPRECIATED.

why would you open the bleed valve? i think it went up because you let air into the system :slap:

dont drive it till you bleed the system properly again

Please don't shout at us.....

A few previous threads refer to the coolant levels and how to/not to bleed the system properly. Keep us posted

those bleeding valves are only for bleeding the water while the car is running and when the air is out you close them. thats it and after bleeding and driving the car you check the water the next day when its cold and top up if nessacary. if you open the bleed valve the water will move from the highest point to the tank

Hi,
random question..
Howcome you using water and not coolant?

According to the Bentley service manual the coolant for the car should be a 50/50 mixture of anti-freeze (coolant) (can't remember the specific specification, but I just by the BMW coolant from the dealers) and distilled water.

i opened the bleed valveS because i was told that when you add coolant you must open the bleed valves to get rid of sir trapped in the system.

i've driven it without any issues.

i just referred to it as water, its actually 50% distilled water and 50% antifreeze, as rightly pointed out by sankekur.
