is the E90 320i too slow???

this thread has spiralled into one of those long threads with a lot of conflicting (to yours) opinions. I stopped reading at page 4, so I apologize if my post is outdated.

this is just my opinion...you should forget these haters. their opinions do not matter...what dp they know anyway? I am sure your informants are a lot more knowlegable - which is why they are informants. correct?

I say follow your dream and make this beautiful 320i faster by changing the engine. forget the 335i. get a 1M and pull out its engine and put it in the 320i. a 1m is no where as good as a pre-lci e90 320i! then when you have enough money for the m5 you will have two beasts on your drive!

Ps. your car is the best looking 320i I have seen. My heart feels like its going to explode because of its beauty - especially when its on the trailer.

Looks pretty much stock other than a diffuser and smoked wheels, looks nice but pretty much stock imho. Nothing near this

You can get a S65 motor for R30k. Then your better looking than M3, e90 will be able to perform like a real M3.

Lets close it up guys... lets just say i don't like the front bumper of the e90 m3.., that M3 should've came out with M Sport Package that normal e90's have i rate.

If i was ever going to by a sports car then i'd look at a italian car for 2.2m 2nd hand.(Ferrari FF, favorite car = that looks like a Hatchback but has a WHOPPING V12, then put a novitec ehaust on it).,

however i have been told that the V10 Bmw drives and feels like an outrite Italian sports car.., you pay to have fun and maintain the car (obviously when you have to top up the oil every 3 days and get a full tank every week).

pesides i love my bmw - it burps when i rev it above 2000 rpm's, my friend 335 doesnt.

The 320i is my first car at a discount price that i will tell no one. (yeah i'm a hustler, and being a lawyer i need some excitement in my life - so i'll do what i have to, to make it faster = i will not pay 200k plus for a 335i or 335D that looks exactly like my car (hell no)., but i'd rather take its parts and shove it in mine for 30k and less..

e90 M package is the best sport looking sedan i've ever seen in my whole life., shout out to my brothers who own it - yal look mean on them streets. Just get a Schnitzer Rear Diff then yal will be cool.

The car comes with M badges all around it. - steering wheel, 4 doors, so i thought it just need an M badge for the sexy body too..., Sorry but i'm definitely not taking it off ( all the girls say i drive an M3 so hell no ) hahaha.

The reason why it was towed - i had busted my pully drving back from UWC graduation back home in EL - pushing 155km in 4th and i thought i needed more airconditioning so i put it on full blast and the aircon pully failed, which busted the fan belt - no fan belt, no battery power no car..


I like living to the fullest, so do my friends and we love cars, so its a need to have the best ride.. I know BMW M division is the best out of the german 4 (Merc, Audi, VW - except for the rs6 avant - thats an m5 eater) so i just need to prove to my friends and basically to myself that wearing an M t-shirt or cap is the right thing to do in front of Gti owners and be cool.

I'll wear a ferrari cap in 18yrs hopefully lol 2.2m:blueCry:

Okaaay. @Soso. Your best bet is to pickup a 335i write off and build it. My write off sold for R55k and the new owner spent around 30k sorting it out. Keep the 320i as a daily that you can eventually pass on to your son. As stated previously, the engine swap is not a financially sound or practical decision. It will require more than a mechanic. I know a few master technicians who would not attempt the conversion just to avoid the pain. Alternatively sell the 320i buy a 335i. Then put a 320i badge on the 335i.
R30000 is not a realistic number. You need more than just an engine. It will most likely cost you 3 times that amount. There are many knowledgeable members on the forum. I would seriously consider there opinions. As for the Build mentality, once you have a 335i you can bolt on a 700hp kit in a matter of days.

check out The fast and the furious and take notes....
if you slap two big ass nos bottles under the front seat with let's say 1mm jets for injection straight into the intake.... :skit::tiptoe:
and maybe while you are prepared to spend so much money on it sommer slap a nice t4/5 hybrid turbo on there... and just to make certain it spools up nicely put a smaller turbo also in line
With that set up you will drop those pesky gti's like flys..

Buy a 335 man, conversion is expensive.
If you want to beat that Golf though, get a Zonda. Those GTI cars can easily dwarf a respected BM.

A week ago i came to your workshop to try and help my situation.

I had spoken to one of your guys saying that, i don't like my friends driving Gti's (G5) and new polo Gti's which are faster cars than i have.., even thou my car looks more faster and is more appealing to the eye.

I drive an e90 320i m sport package (4 cylinder, 2000cc). Its a small engine i know, however i asked one of your guys where i could find a Bmw 1m coupe engine (3000cc, 6 cylinder, twin turbo).? where i could convert that engine to my body/car

He greatly came up with a better solution to my mid life crisis problem that i should ask you (Mr J Macdonald) if i could buy a crashed e90 335i (tweeked 3L, 6 cylinder, twin turbo) from you if you have such a car, or any car you deem powerful to handle a Gti 6 from Bmw and coonvert those parts to my car. (for 20k)

Is this possible Sir..? if not, what can i do in this situation.., as i am not willing to sell my car, as it has too much potential for that and is a head turner more then any golf.

My son should drive this car when his of age.

The 320s are slow boet. Very nice looking car but you cannot think about racing GTi with it. Robot to robot it even gets skinned by Run X Rsi. Sell it and buy a 335.
