I also find it weird how people go out of their way and make it a core focus to ensure that they have a faster car than their friends, and are willing to utterly rape their existing cars with different engines at a cost of "20k" or more.

Buddy, give me that 20k, I'll race you and make sure you win so you can feel better about yourself. Easiest way to do this.

But seriously that car looks good with all the stuff, just get rid of the flea market M badge on the boot and then drive it proudly, it is an awesome car. We might joke around with its performance, but it was never meant to be a racing car, fast car, or even n performance vehicle. It is a 320i, and a bmw and it is luxury at an affordable price. And plus the car isnt too slow.

But he has R20k, and going to fit a N54, with all the coding, computers, etc. Then it will murder those pesky Gti's.

Wish I knew you could pick up a wrecked 335i for under R20k. Could have bought one and sold it off as a parts car. Instead I went and bought stupid camping gear :blueCry:

Lets close it up guys... lets just say i don't like the front bumper of the e90 m3.., that M3 should've came out with M Sport Package that normal e90's have i rate.

The jeeps my Directors car not mine.

If i was ever going to by a sports car then i'd look at a italian car for 2.2m 2nd hand.(Ferrari FF, favorite car = that looks like a Hatchback but has a WHOPPING V12, then put a novitec ehaust on it).,

however i have been told that the V10 Bmw drives and feels like an outrite Italian sports car.., you pay to have fun and maintain the car (obviously when you have to top up the oil every 3 days and get a full tank every week).

pesides i love my bmw - it burps when i rev it above 2000 rpm's, my friend 335 doesnt.

The 320i is my first car at a discount price that i will tell no one. (yeah i'm a hustler, and being a lawyer i need some excitement in my life - so i'll do what i have to, to make it faster = i will not pay 200k plus for a 335i or 335D that looks exactly like my car (hell no)., but i'd rather take its parts and shove it in mine for 30k and less..

e90 M package is the best sport looking sedan i've ever seen in my whole life., shout out to my brothers who own it - yal look mean on them streets. Just get a Schnitzer Rear Diff then yal will be cool.

The car comes with M badges all around it. - steering wheel, 4 doors, so i thought it just need an M badge for the sexy body too..., Sorry but i'm definitely not taking it off ( all the girls say i drive an M3 so hell no ) hahaha.

The reason why it was towed - i had busted my pully drving back from UWC graduation back home in EL - pushing 155km in 4th and i thought i needed more airconditioning so i put it on full blast and the aircon pully failed, which busted the fan belt - no fan belt, no battery power no car..

I like living to the fullest, so do my friends and we love cars, so its a need to have the best ride.. I know BMW M division is the best out of the german 4 (Merc, Audi, VW - except for the rs6 avant - thats an m5 eater) so i just need to prove to my friends and basically to myself that wearing an M t-shirt or cap is the right thing to do in front of Gti owners and be cool.

I'll wear a ferrari cap in 18yrs hopefully lol 2.2m:blueCry:

I'm now so damn scared to ever need legal representation there. :tiptoe:

Lol thats good... go to westbank race track on Saturdays = you'll see proffesionals playing with their toys. (the new golf course)

Don't be., i hav'nt lost a case but i've lost two drage races. (not cool).

Dude, the major issue here is your version of what an engine swap will cost...

The parts alone will run double what you're talking here, and the labour will likely be 50-75% of the parts costs as well.

To say nothing of the hassles of getting the thing actually working properly.

In the end the 320i is a decent family man car.

Can it pull hard - nope. End of.

Keep it as your runabout. In 2-3 years time you'll have some more bucks to buy something superior (either a sport sedan or even a secondary "toy" car).

You just need to go in with open eyes - these guys here know what they're talking about, if they say an engine swap will run 100k, then it'll run 100k...

Believe that.

Do you even logic? Have you not read any of the advice the guys have posted?

Don't get me wrong.., iv got a whole lot of information that i wrote down and which i'm going to give to my mechanic a wishlist of what to do and how to do it.. this is going to be my last reply.

I just hope the mechanic was being honest that this can be done for 30k (and have a fully stocked 335 engine) - if it can then i hit a gold mine.

I'll obviously pay for the side parts of intercooler, waterpumps etc the busted parts basically then i'll get back to yal and make sure i record all things done to my engine in terms of a registration perspective.

If a mechie told you he'd sort you with an n54 engine swap for 30k please ask him to just go the full monty, surely for 60 or 70 he can just source you a koenigsegg 1000hp v8?

Don't be silly.., the reason why its so cheap is because the mechanics boss has many of these so called right offs and they take up space - so he sells them for 16-20k because he got them from auction for 7-10k..

Bro - you don't get 335 write off's at auctions for 10k. It's a bloody 250+ car in working condition. Even just the engine is worth probably 50k alone, let alone transmission and auxiliary components.

There's been now about 5 pages of guys telling you your plan is wonky and any mechie saying he can do it is either lying or ignorant...

If you came for advice - you've got it, what you do next is your call. If it was my 20k I'd just keep it and get it into a tax free investment and let it accumulate for a bit until you could get something decent.
