Its like making a citi golf fast, in the end you bugger up the reliability and use more fuel.

Also it will sound like crap.

Okay tell you what i'll do to get me 20kw of power from my e90 320i before i start getting turbo's of heart transplants.

My people on the street have come with some homework that i've given - To do list

- sensors checked, crank and cam position sensors checked, checked if there are any blocked cats, any vanos failures, check crank case vent valve and vacuum pipes, the one that runs over the intake as these usually cause our cars to underperform.

Then only start moding.

- Decat the car (cats situated right on top, close to the manifold branch without moving the engine.

Remapping and doing a software upgrade from BMW themselves (tell them my car is under performing)

Then a full exhaust from the back.

What you think Gents?? can this get me my 20KW before i start going crazy with installing turbo's or heart tranplants.??

Be Brutally Honest neh.

Do it! Very efficient way of wasting money and making the M5 dream take longer.
And why all this decatting? 320i owners love kittens.

Bud you seem to have made your mind up on this against what everyone is telling you. The e90 320i is never going to be a performance car the fact is its a comfortable commuter that is a "tad" underpowered.

All the minor mods you have mentioned will not yield any significant performance difference apart from making your pockets lighter. An engine swap is a shed load of work on modern cars and will probably run100k+ to be done properly.

But hey if your mind is made up go for it, be sure to document the process and come back and disprove what has been said...:coolShake:

Don't listen to the haters!

I say take the plunge and buy a scrap 335i and DIY (you will figure it out.)

Be sure to report back with progress!

Nay Gents im not trolling...

I just needed to know whether the 320i i own has potential.. (im not worried about the speed/power i have on the free ways as its more then enough power on high ways, the car is comfy enough, it certainly looks mean even meaner then a m3 e90 (apart from the quad pipes ofcourse),

But i have best friends who own gti's so my niggaz make me the laughing stock qho..!!

To be honest, and with no disrespect you guys sound really conservative - everyone this side with a any bmw make sure they decat their car or even change their ratio for better torque and do their remapping., and of you really know your there is a difference in power, torque.

Last week before this thread, i asked a well respected mechanic and he said his boss sell un-insured right offs, and stated that these right offs werent really right off as most of them were female drivers or people who don't know anything about cars.. - the only thing wrong with these cars are the busted intercoolers, waterpumps and suspension and the previous owners say its written off (now thats utter kak). He usually sells them for 20k., the mechanic said if i ask nicely he'll even convert the parts that can be used to my 320i, then i just throw him a bone of 10k for his time and effort.

So with that info, i thought i should come to you guys.. (yal need to come to EL or Durban, cause all my Indian dudes do this on the regular).

However thanks for helping me out., i guess i'll just do the decat and remapping then hustle and talk to a guy who offered 210k for an e60 M5

Thank you.

Your 320i has huge potential, its basically an M3 with a smaller engine. I vote that you swop in an N54 or S55 engine. Its about time that a 320i gets the respect that it rightfully deserves. The benefit is that you are in the EC, plenty of accident ridden vehicles there and labour is cheap cheap.

Okay its done... i'll report back if there is a neglected 335i (N55/4 or S55 and needed parts for the surgery), or that 1m coupe engine i adore (basically any bmw 3000cc, 6cyl, twin turbo).., even thou i'm a purist at heart but the V8 or V10 is a little thirsty for me, so no to those thats just too much power for me.

Niggaz in Gti's are getting stage 2's...., so i can't just sit and watch.

(Fastest car on the strip is an E30 6cyl, with a truck turbo on - it eats a tuned F10 M5, tuned nissimo Gtr) & this weekend we watching it go against a supercharged Porchse) the e30 is a daily driver by the way.. drove it from Uwc all the way back home with suitcases & textbooks etc. = thats my mechanic.

Yal need to come to EL

Dont forget to push the demister button, face all the dash airvents to the left and lock the rear right door lock to unleash the hidden power of the N46...
